Dani Pacheco will today embark on what he describes as a 'massive summer' in his fledgling career.

The 20-year-old returned to Liverpool after a six-week break this weekend and will train alongside his teammates at Melwood today.

Pacheco is aiming to do everything possible to show Kenny Dalglish he can play a vital role in 2011-12 - but he will have to get a move on.

That's because the young Spaniard has been selected to represent his country in the U20 World Cup, which starts in Colombia on July 29.

Pacheco tweeted: "Back to Liverpool, training 4th till 15th and then National Team for u-20. Massive summer for myself.

"Time to give everything on the pitch."

I know it's great to be playing in these tournaments, but you can't help feel he just ends up missing out by being away, the time spent with the Liverpool squad and playing in friendlies for us could be more crucial to his season.

I get the impression he's becoming a bit avoidant of Anfield, losing confidence in his place here.

Best of luck to the lad.

Don't think he'll be here for too much longer though.

yeah, i feel the same. I just hope he manages to show why so many fans think he's the bees knees.

He's still only 20 though and could take the game by storm with the right application

Agree, sadly. Seems like a good kid, never kicked up a fuss when he was sent out on loan to Norwich.

Probably best all round if he moves on.

He proved he's half decent with his performances for Norwich.

He's defo got age on his side too, to be honest, I doubt he's on mega money so i'd have no qualms with keeping him about if he was going to learn here and get a bit of cup action and maybe a few league games too.

If we were in the Europa i'd see sense in keeping him, but we aren't so his chances will be limited.

FA cup and league cup will suffice. We can afford to blood a couple in those tournaments

We've got the next batch that we'll be probably be wanting to blood like Suso, Raheem and Sterling.

Pacheco is going to get nothing out of playing a few games in some second string side over the course of the season. For the sake of his career (and hopefully our ROI) he needs to be getting regular game time.

And all of that is assuming we don't get knocked out early again.

We need to field our strongest 11 in them competitions.

Very true, however i think it's still early for raheem and sterling to start these games, perhaps come on when we're already winning, just to give them a taste of the pace of the games.

Why? If we get a run of chelsea/utd/arsenal/city/spurs etc etc i'd agree. But for the leicester, leeds and lower shite which we might get drawn against, i fail to see a problem with starting pacheco, with a few seasoned players.

i'm not saying play an entire squad of u-21s, but 3/4 in the starting line up next to carroll, gerrard, ming etc will help their development.

How come you would be willing to sacrifice europa progression yet not domestic? Surely against british teams we'll know how they might cope in the english league

We've played weakened sides against sides of that ilk in Cup competitions in recent years and they've put us out.
We need to take both competitions seriously by playing our strongest side possible.

We haven't won a trophy in 6 years, it's about time we gave ourselves the best possible chance of winning one.

Agreed, we need to win a trophy this season and go pretty much all out for it. I think it's only right we maybe play a couple of kids and have a few on the bench, but by and large I'd play strong sides in most of the competition. We've been stung too many times for not taking it seriously, even sides you're normally expected to beat, because it just doesn't work like that.

Knowing our luck we'll come up against decent Premiership sides and go out anyway!

but i'm not suggesting playing a weak xi, merely bringing in some of the more promising youth (ish) players. minimum 4th is more important to me than the fa or league cup

To be fair, I'm bored of us getting booted out of cup competitions due to playing shite sides against lower league teams.

Lets win something this year, yeah?

Definitely. Top four is imperative for the longterm, but I don't see much cost really in us going all out for both cups. We need a domestic cup final, it's been too long by our standards.

You said Pacheco with a few seasoned players, which is it mate

No problems playing one or two youngsters but the likes of Reina, Carra, Gerrard, Kuyt, Suarez etc should all be included in the side whether we're playing Man U or Crewe.

As Mark and Hardcastle said, we've had our fingers burnt in the past by playing weakened teams in these competitions.

Of course 4th place is more important than winning the FA Cup/Carling Cup in the long-term certainly but winning a Cup competition, even the Carling Cup would give everyone a huge lift in my view.

Spot on.

My team would be (as an example if we were playing leeds)

Gulacsi
Kelly Agger Wilson Aurelio/Robinson
Lucas/jay
Gerrard/adam
Ming/Aqua
Pacheco Suarez/downing
Carroll/kuyt

This was the level i meant. Not a full on inexperienced xi

providing we buy the players i mention of course

Pacheco is hardly gonna establish himself being away at international tournaments every year. All that does is puts him at a disadvantage at Liverpool while putting him in the shop window for some La Liga team.

Liverpool are ready to let young Spanish attacker Dani Pacheco join Ian Holloway’s Blackpool on loan for the season.

Pacheco could be allowed to join the Seasiders at the start of the campaign after having a short spell with Norwich City in their promotion push.

Kenny Dalglish is happy to let the exciting talent get some extra first-team experience with the Seasiders. However Holloway’s move for midfielder Jonjo Shelvey is not being encouraged.

COVENTRY City boss Andy Thorn has switched his attention elsewhere after missing out on rising Liverpool star Dani Pacheco.

The Sky Blues manager had the Spain Under-20 striker lined up to join the club on loan but the deal has fallen through because the Reds rate him so highly that they want to keep him closer to home.

The exciting 20-year-old was on loan at Norwich at the end of last season and scored against City in the last match of the campaign at Carrow Road.

We were very close on Dani and got knocked back,” revealed Thorn, who is confident of getting a centre-forward in to help fill the goal void left by Marlon King’s exit.

“We thought we had him in the bag but these things happen.

"But that’s the type of quality we are looking at and now we are waiting on another player, well there’s a couple, from Premiership clubs but we will have to wait another ten or 12 days before we get answers as to whether we can take them on loan.

“There’s no urgency at the moment but I don’t want to bring anyone in who isn’t better than what we have got. But we will bring a body, or bodies, in but it has to be at the right time.

“Whoever comes in will also have to fit into the group because we have got a buzz going now.

“I know it’s frustrating for the supporters but we are trying to bring people in.

“But we are waiting on a couple of phone calls because being Premiership clubs they start back a little later than us and we are waiting to see if they will be used in their squads.”
