Three things we're missing.

Since I started watching Liverpool in the late 80s, I've never seen us outplayed so regularly.

Tempo: Players like Lucas, Jovanovic, Kuyt and Poulsen hold on to the ball for too long. I
I've noticed that our opponents play with a much higher tempo than us.

Creativity: Jesus Christ, we didn't have a single creative player out there tonight. It's a travesty for a club like Liverpool. The midfield strung a few sideways passes among each other then it's like they scratch their head and wonder what to do with the ball.
I don't know if Kuyt is out of form or if he was just unlucky but the way he played tonight was tragic. He was probably more useful to Blackpool than us. Kuyt almost singlehandedly ruined every attack we had before we even threatened them.

Pace: The current stock of player bar Johnson, Babel, Torres and Gerrard wouldn't be able to outrun Neville Southall.

Bottom line is, Dalglish won't be able to fix this. Our midfield is shit. We really need some new players.
If we can't buy any new players well then look to the reserves. Suso and Pacheco would be a lot better options than what we have now.

Creativity and guile is something we are sorely lacking. Alonso had it in abundance. Gerrard and Torres have a little bit of it.

Unfortunately, our squad is bloated with some very poor technical players. If you take Reina, Gerrard and Torres out, we might just have the worst squad in the league.

Sure it's our best 3 player, but I don't think you could make the same statement for the Mancs (without their 3 best) or Chelsea, or Arsenal, or Citeh, or Spurs. And when you look at our wage bill, these are the clubs we should be competing against.

a balanced team is what we're missing.

blackpool don't have star players but;
everyone knows their position,
eyeryone is comfortable in their position
everyone works for each other
everyone passes to the player in the better position
everyone attacks as a unit
everyone defends as a unit

when was the last time we could say the same

fuck pace, we are no longer a TEAM

Totally agree.

I mean come on, they are playing against players like Varney, Adam, Eardley etc
These players aren't supposed to be good enough to outplay LFC. Times are bad, real bad.
When we're considering signing a player like Charlie Adam and we used to have a world class midfielder like Alonso, I start to question the if we still are this big top four club anymore?

Having better footballers like Charlie Adams also helps Spidey.

He was better than everyone one of our midfielders today. And he's got 10 international caps (for Scotland?). We had 5 internationals playing in midfield today with a combined cap total of probably about 250+.

And they ALL looked a class below him.

I just want us to get back to basics.
if we are going to pick the likes of poulsen along lucas and then have jove and kuyt on the flanks you are going to get zero creativity through the middle and nothing from the wide positions either. instead of moaning about what we don't have play to the strengths of the players we DO have or at least TRY.

problem is that most of our squad have more weaknesses than strengths.

Cole - Babel - Gerrard. All three in the stands today. I think they would have made a difference... But we are struggling in depth.

Exactly. We don't have a team and we don't have any unifying idea since Rafa, Alonso and Mascher left. That's by far the main problem, not lack of any specific attributes or even lack of quality.

Kenny has his work cut out for him. I wouldn't want to be in his position right now.
