Ox-Revoir

I always liked the idea of Ox, but he's just one of those players that never settled on one position.
He's got the basics, but he's just not good enough to play in our system.

His time here summed up:

He's up there with Paul Stewart as people who should have been left in London and should only be known for getting bummed

His entire game seems to be getting the ball and sprinting 10 yards to try and shoot

Loved his goal vs City in the CL quarters. I liked him and I think he's paid his transfer fee back with just a few key performances a couple of years back. But his injury record is just too horrible and I don't think he's got the same burst of speed and turn of direction anymore. If we get 20m I'd take it.

I'll never forget the screamer versus City, but beyond that it's been a lacklustre spell. Who knows if not for the injuries, but if there's £20m on the table then we take that no questions.

I feel that he is one of the players if you evaluate him by attribute he scores very highly - can play quick one-touch football, above-average dribbling ability for a midfield player, has pace, can take a great shot, capable of cute passes, can power forward with the ball, capable of playing multiple positions. But he has never been able to put together all of them in a consistent manner.

I feel like we took a punt on him as he might have scored highly in all these attributes, was an LFC fan and wanted to come here, homegrown quota, and belief that Klopp might be able to coach him to put things together. In the sequence of City games in his first year, it almost looked as if Klopp had unlocked his potential.

Attacking midfield has been a bit of a letdown for Klopp/Edward team with Ox, Keita, Minamino not up to par.

Totally agree. I don't even think well get 20m for him...His injury record is a big turn-off for potential buyers.

His attitude and understanding of the club has been second to none.

Shame it hasn’t worked out for him after some brilliant early goals.

Some joke comments in this thread. Wow.

Not £35m worth, obviously. But people also forget his value in team moral. big dressing room / training pitch presence.

I like him. Always have. One of the good ones, but has lost his way since his injury. Not sure how he fits into this midfield next season and beyond, but I’d like him to stay

For whatever reason, it seems like Klopp prefers him playing in the front three. He tried him initially in Coutinho role few times as a late sub for Salah/Mane I guess. Now it seems like he is trying Ox in Firmino's position.
We would only sell him if we get really good money for him otherwise I can see Klopp and Edwards keeping him for the depth, specially to rest Firmino in few games. That leaves us with only option of getting rid of Shaqiri & Origi both. If Ox stays or goes, we have to sign next Suarez/Salah/Mane type of a player.
