Owen our 1st worldwide ambassador. Mmm.

Talk about a completely cold, calculated appointment. Has played for Liverpool, United and Madrid, ergo he might attract the attention of some more Worldwide fans who think he's this Ronaldo-like figure who's played for the very best clubs. And Newcastle United.

I hope the club have a bit of fun with this.

We could send him out as team mascot during our preseason games abroad

When the twerp said that while he was with ManUre, he included Newcastle in the list and left LFC out. And I'm not having the "He was playing for our biggest rivals" bit - if Ince could namecheck United when he signed for us (no bugger complained either, and rightly not) Owen could have acted with a shred of dignity too. Truth is the self-absorbed little d!ck was still in a huff that we didn't re-sign him from Madrid like he wanted us to. The club is nuts to sign him up again now.

The irony being that Rafa wanted him but Owen got too impatient and signed for Newcastle because he felt our deal wasn't moving along as quickly as he wanted.

He's just a careerist, no wonder the fans never really warmed to him, he had no character and no real genuine affinity with the club or it's fans. Great player though at his very best.

Absolutely. At his peak he was genuinely unstoppable. Opposition defenders just had to hope he'd miss when he got in on goal.

How often have great players been or become total dipsticks away from the game though?

I've got to be honest, we met him at a football tournament last season in Frodsham/Helsby (he'll probably be there again this Summer too) because his lad was playing for a Welsh side that were there. His lad isn't much cop and they got knocked out in the early rounds. He got loads of attention but was quite gracious, he just asked if people wouldn't approach him during his sons games, so he could watch him play.

He invited my lad into his gazebo and got him to sit down with him and have a chat and a photo, it's a great picture. Similarly we've met Leon Osman a couple of times now and he's a really, really nice and accommodating guy, the kids love him when we play against his nephews team because he's really good with the kids.

Well, that's different, and props to you for posting that, as well as him for sharing his time with kids in that way.

Leon Osman was a boyhood Kopite BTW. Give him some gyp about that next time you see him. 😉

The first time we met Osman, he was sat at their set up waiting for the matches to start and he was on a deckchair, people were walking past constantly, pointing him out, giving him stick all in good humour. Anyway, his deckchair collapsed and him with it, he took it all in good humour, but he was hugely embarrassed.

He was at the academy last Saturday watching the under-18s with Carra. He looked overly tanned, and clutched his iPad like it was stuck to his hand.
Carra looked hungover to fuck though!!
