I dont think Terry will leave Chelsea.
I could be wrong i guess, but hes 30ish and will have 2 or 3 bashes at the champions league. If he goes to citeh thats at least one less with little guarantee that they will be in it next year.

Im going to say it wont happen.

If we got a similar offer from man city for carra, would anyone here sell?
[/quote]

It'd be wrong on every level to accept that offer, but 40M... damn.

40M for a 31 year old, we'd have to bite their hands off

It all depends on whether the player wants to go or not.

In his position I'd certainly want to stay where I was, but if there's any substance at all in those press reports one starts to get the feeling that the move is being given real consideration on all sides. There's also the Abramovich factor - bearing in mind that the Chavs owe him more money than we owe our creditors, might this be an offer they can't refuse?

0935: Manchester United have an agreement in place with Bordeaux to sign 20-year-old winger Gabriel Obertan, according the French club's president.

"It's actually a great possibility," said Jean-Louis Triaud. "United want him and we would be delighted to see Gabriel develop in such a club. We will make it official when the moment comes."

Is this guy any good?

Having made his debut at 17/18, he was loaned out for most of last season (scoring 1 in 15 for L'Orient). He's not an edge-of-seat signing.

If Terry goes to City, it'll be symbolically significant for both clubs - but I'm not sure it'll really help City or harm Chelsea all that much on the pitch. Although losing *both* their first-choice CBs in the same summer could make life pretty tough for Ancelotti.

Obertan goes insane on FM2007

I'd laugh so hard if 'Mr Chelsea' was wearing a lighter shade of blue come the start of the season.

Looks like Terry's staying:

Chelsea's latest manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has stated that there is "no price" for John Terry and that the centre-half will remain captain of the club. Manchester City have been repeatedly linked with a move for the player, with some reports claiming that they would double his wages.

"I think that Terry is a symbol of the team," he said. "Naturally he will be the captain next time; he says he wants to be at Chelsea next season and we want to keep him forever. There is no price – he will be captain of Chelsea forever.

"There is no problem. For him, for us, the story continues for Chelsea. For captain I would like to have Terry. He is very close to [Paolo] Maldini in professionalism and I would like to keep him as captain."

Maldini lifted the European Cup twice as Milan's captain during Ancelotti's time as manager at San Siro and is widely regarded as one of the finest defenders of his generation.

Ancelotti, who was speaking in halting English after a crash-course in the language, added that he does not expect many changes in the club's playing staff, but he did announce the arrival of the Russian left-winger Yuri Zhirkov and confirmed that Manchester City's Daniel Sturridge and Middlesbrough's Ross Turnbull had joined the club. He said he does not expect the team to change much as they are a great side already.

"I think that Zhirkov, Sturridge and Turnbull will be Chelsea players now. I know a lot of Zhirkov, not so much Sturridge and Turnbull. But I am looking forward to working with them," he said.

When asked if he would be making bids for Milan's forward Pato or the Italian midfielder Andrea Pirlo, Ancelotti remained uncommitted. "I don't want to talk about other players," he said. "If there is a good situation for us we can try and improve the team. I don't want to talk about them because they are Milan players.

"I don't think [there will be many changes] because Chelsea are a great team now. If you can improve this it would be better for me and the club."

It remains to be seen whether Deco and Ricardo Carvalho are part of Ancelotti's plans. The Portugal internationals have been linked with Inter, but the Italian club appear to have cooled their interest in the pair.

Ancelotti, who was in good humour throughout, brushed off any suggestions that he is concerned about being Chelsea's fifth manager in five years and said he just wants to get on with the job. "I am anxious to start because I like my work. I like to start now a new experience. I've found a very good organisation and young people to work with me."

Hull want Bobby Zamora for some unknown reason.

Jo to stay at Everton for another season. Good deal that.

Crouch to Sunderland for 14M appaz.

Sunderland also want Darren Bent and Richard Dunne. If they can afford players of that calibre, and Bruce manages as he did at Wigan, they'll be a solid, midtable side this season.

Poor Dunne. He's been City's player of the season for last 400 years running and now that they're finally going places, he's going to be shipped out. It's a cruel game!

Thats very true. He's been their star performer in nearly every match for ages. Great pick up by Sunderland though if he goes there.

From FansFC.com(!?):

Former Liverpool forward set for shock Everton switch?
11:15 AM 07 July, 2009
Everton Football Club have been linked with a shock swoop for Luis Garcia.

It is believed Atletico Madrid are willing to let the former Liverpool forward leave the Vicente Calderon on a free transfer this summer, in order to offload his salary.

Garcia, 31, has been linked with both Blackburn Rovers and Fulham, but latest reports emanating from Spain suggest a return to Merseyside, albeit the blue half, is a possibility.

The Spanish international has happy memories of his three-year stint at Anfield, the highlight of which was undoubtedly the UEFA Champions League triumph of 2005.

Bullshit story but I wouldn´t like it if it happened.

I thought it was more a question of wanting to go home to Spain, but I guess it comes down to the same thing in the end.

In a way I'm tempted to say that, if Luis ever did come back to this country, I'd be flabbergasted if he went to the blueslime. However, after the Owen business all bets are off.

1205: AC Milan have signed United States defender Oguchi Onyewu from Standard Liege.

I was a little suprised when Newcastle decided against signing him because I thought he was decent enough, but AC Milan?

Not exactly Nesta, is he?

Gabriel Obertan is undergoing a medical ahead of his expected transfer to Manchester United from Bordeaux.

Reports in France suggest that the 20-year-old is close to completing his £3million move shortly with a four-year contract thought to have been agreed.

The France Under-21 international is said to have attracted interest from the likes of AC Milan, Inter and Arsenal but it seems the player is now destined for Old Trafford.

The winger struggled for form last season at Bordeaux with manager and former Red Devils defender Laurent Blanc sending him out on loan to fellow Ligue 1 side Lorient for the second half of last term.

Blanc admitted his surprise that a club of United's stature had come in for Obertan and added that the youngster needed to improve in a number of areas if he is to be a success at the Theatre of Dreams.

"I was surprised too, but it is an unexpected chance for him to play with one of the best clubs in the world," he told Europe1.

"Manchester United have been tracking him for a long time. They certainly hope to advance him, something that Bordeaux and Lorient have failed to do.

"He has the potential, but he must overcome psychological and mental challenges so he can express his true value."

Once Obertan completes his move to United he should arrive in confident mood having just been named Most Valuable Player at last month's Toulon international youth tournament where France finished runners-up to Chile.

Agent Dennis Lachter has invited Barcelona to make a formal bid for Arsenal star Andrey Arshavin.

Arshavin, 28, has enjoyed a hugely successful start to his career at Emirates Stadium but there have been rumours linking him with a summer move to Camp Nou.

And Lachter, who represented Arshavin when he made his move from Zenit St Petersburg in January, has now called on the European champions to make a move.

"Before anything else, Barcelona should make a formal offer," Lachter told COM Radio.

"Then we can sit down and speak."
Confusion

However, it remains unclear whether Lachter is still working as Arshavin's agent as the player claimed last month that he no longer required his services.

"Recently, I sent a formal letter to Dennis Lachter, which said that I do not want him to continue to represent me and that I will act on my own behalf," he said in the Daily Mail.
