I thought the Profitable Group were interested in them?

Which was a bit funny since they're the ones bringing LFC to Singapore for the friendly and both Dalglish and Mcmahon have influence there.

Hmm..wonder if Kenny has quit then.

Benzema, who is now relishing the prospect of making his debut for the Spanish giants, says the visit of Florentino Perez to his house played a major role in his decision to join.

"Real are a kid's dream. Florentino Perez came to my house at Bron. That was important," he continued. "He can speak French and I understood he absolutely wanted me. I could only left for Real. It was my dream, that's all.

That's how you go and sign a player ... as much as I despise Real Madrid and Perez.

I know. Curses! He would rather go there than City, strangely enough. The only upside to this potential transfer is that Owen would be as pissed off as we are.

There hardly need him now would be a waste of their money on another striker when they need a winger. Rooney, Berbatov, Owen and Eto would be too much for 2 places

He's not niave enough to try to replace Ronaldo like for like, he's got Valencia, who'll play adequately there, so he needs to find more goals. Having as big an array of attacking options as possible is the best way to do that.

They'll be in for Eto'o.

I'd be more worried if they were in for Ribery.

Not sure I agree. Eto'o would score a shitload of goals in that team. I really hope it doesn't happen.

I'm not so sure he would. Scholes (OAP), Giggs (OAP), Carrick, Hargreaves (AWL), Nani, Anderson, Fletcher & now Valencia.

Previously you could point to a MF of Giggs / Carrick / Hargreaves, Fletcher or Scholes and Ronaldo and say that it was bloody good. However the signs were definitely there last season that both Scholes & Giggs are way past their best and will be nothing but bit players this season. Hargreaves will be lucky to ever play again and that will leave a likely starting MF (barring any major signings) of Rooney - Carrick - Fletcher and Valencia. Hardly awe inspiring.

They are seriously missing creativity in the MF and are going to miss Ronaldo big time.

I remember everyone pointing at their midfield a couple seasons ago and saying it's not up to scratch. They still ended up winning the title though.

True enough, they no longer have Ronaldo to carry them through the rough patches, but they still have a very strong team and the transfer window is a long way from over.

I don't think there any players available they could sign and who would want to go to them left in this window. They are going to regret letting Ronaldo and Tevez go and not properly replacing them IMO.

I take it you're just talking about superstars like Ribery and Villa?

Eto'o - he's still up for grabs, is he not?

Augero - could still move.

Fabiano - not a superstar, but has the potential to do well.

They may well be regretting their handling of Tevez, but there are still enough players for them sign this window to make that go away.

Is the right answser.

It's a cliche, but never write off Utd.

To do so is just fucking daft. They'll be there or thereabouts at the business end of next season.

How would you feel about 'Chelsea die-hard- John Terry were he to leave his 135K per week wages at the Bridge to join Citeh cos they're offering him 200K a week?

From Mirror:

John Terry has been told by Chelsea to break his silence as the Stamford Bridge hierarchy prepare to do the unthinkable and sell the England captain.

While Chelsea insist they want Terry to stay and see out the rest of his career in SW6, the club are aware the issue will overshadow new coach Carlo Ancelotti’s unveiling this morning.

And as Blues keeper Petr Cech last night admitted Terry could be tempted by Manchester City’s limitless budget, Chelsea were coming round to the idea of cashing in if the Eastlands outfit lodged a £40million bid.

While Terry has long been seen as the heartbeat of the Blues and remains the player closest to the supporters, senior Chelsea figures accept he is not universally loved within the dressing room.

And with some doubts over the long-term condition of his back adding to the disquiet at Terry’s reluctance to publicly dismiss City’s £30m approach, the next 48 hours could prove decisive. And while Cech believes that Terry will stay, even with City willing to offer a staggering £300,000 a week, the keeper conceded the captain could be going.

Cech said: “Sometimes people want to have a chance to have new challenges and new adventures.’’

Terry will come under pressure to state he does not want to go to City. If he will not make the vow, Chelsea will reluctantly open proper talks with Mark Hughes’ outfit.

I think with Rooney, Dracula and Owen already on the books, they'll struggle to sign another big name striker as he wont be convinced he wont just be a bench option.

They've surely got to sign some sort of creativity, or more importantly pace for that team. There's zero pace in the current starting 11 for them.
