If I was an arsenal fan i'd be delighted at getting £25m for Adebayor, the dancing, selfish tw@t
Yep. Think most Gooners would take that in a heartbeat

so he's passed his medical now at city. they're a couple of defenders away from being a top 4 side.
dunne is a pretty solid CB
Solid, but that's about it, not a top four defender.

I started to watch the Tevez conference, should he not be able to speaka da english by now?

Wow. I didn't expect that at all.

He must think his squad will step up.
Or he doesn't want to answer questions about transfers at press conferences so is lying.

I know which one my money is on.

1334 BST: Arsenal target Marouane Chamakh has revealed he would love to join them. The Bordeaux striker, who could be a replacement for Emmanuel Adebayor, said: "Arsenal would be a dream. If they were to come calling, I would certainly give them a positive answer."

But I'd be pissed if Arsene brought in this lad as the replacement. Thats not a step forward at all. Sideways

Adebayor passes Man City medical
Emanuel Adebayor
Adebayor almost left Arsenal last summer when AC Milan came calling

Emmanuel Adebayor has passed a medical and will move to Manchester City once his work permit is approved.

The Togo striker, who has spent three-and-a-half seasons at Arsenal, is believed to be valued at £25m.

The 25-year-old, who scored 16 times for the Gunners last season, has also been linked to AC Milan and Chelsea.

City boss Mark Hughes said as Carlos Tevez was unveiled: "There have been discussions and possibly a deal to be done but nothing has been concluded."

Speaking at the press conference to announce the signing of the former Manchester United striker, Hughes admitted that there could be more arrivals at the big-spending club before the start of the season.

"It may well be that opportunities will present themselves. We still have areas we want to strengthen," he said.

City are intent on building a new-look attack and as well as Tevez have also added Paraguayan Roque Santa Cruz to their ranks this summer, having signed Craig Bellamy last season.

The Eastlands outfit are eager to break into the Premier League's top four this coming season and have shown their determination with their close-season spending.

Midfielder Gareth Barry was bought from Aston Villa, and from under the noses of last season's Premier League runners-up Liverpool, for £12m and City paid Blackburn about £18m for Paraguay international forward Santa Cruz.

City completed a deal for Tevez on Tuesday - the Argentine joining after City paid a fee of about £25m to secure his registration from third party ownership after his contract with Premier League champions Manchester United expired.

And if Adebayor also makes the switch to Eastlands, City will have captured players from three of the leading six clubs in the top flight last season.

In Adebayor, City would be buying a player who has scored 62 goals in 142 appearances for Arsenal since he joined the Gunners from Monaco for £7m.

He hit 30 goals in the 2007/08 season but struggled with injuries in the last campaign and also incurred the wrath of some Arsenal fans, who felt the striker lacked commitment.

With the influx of big-name players at Eastlands comes a new challenge for manager Hughes, according to former Manchester City player Dennis Tueart.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live: "The big challenge for managers now is to manage extremely wealthy young men, who do not need to work beyond their football careers.

"How does that affect their psyche and professionalism? These are things that the manager has got to sort out."

I can only assume they bought Santa Cruz because they didn't think they could get anyone else, and now they're stuck with him.

Santa Cruz will be probably be the worst deal done in the Premiership this year.

No, of course not Doc. I said from an Arsenal fans point of view. I would love for Arsene to fuck up, I find it hilarious. That said, I'd rather see Arsenal continue to get 4th, then City to break the top 4.

Comparing Chamakh to Henry, Viera and Anelka is a bit of a stretch dont you think? He may have a habit of getting young french players for a bargain. But this lad isnt in that league.

I'd love City to break the top 4 if it is at the expense of Utd. That would be just lovely.

How has this happened? Were they even linked with him?

It just seems like all of a sudden City have signed Adebayor...

They have one of the best strikeforces around now.

Poor the Bellamy.
I really wouldn't mind him back as a back up striker if we can get him for around 5 million.

*RUNS FOR COVER****

I see no reason why not either, I think he would be ideal

Sky Sports sources understand Aston Villa have agreed a fee in the region of £12million to sign Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing

Thank fuck, at least we won't be buying him now, plus I thought he's supposed to be out injured until November?

Thank the dear lord.

He'll do well with Villa though - they're building a solid team with young English players.

Assuming Downing will be first choice at LW when he returns from injury, will Young start playing in the hole regularly?

Thought out wide was his best position due to his crossing ability and willingness to run at defenders?

They have Milner on the right so Young will have to take a more central role at times.

One Villa fan I know reckons Milner may get played at right wing-back next season, at least to begin with, which would leave room for Young on the right wing.

Better than Nigel Rio Joker there anyway. Young would play LB then.

I'd say if he had the choice he'd go for Fulham, the missus would most certainly prefer that.

I suggested Milner would thrive at right wing-back about 18 months ago on here (and was laughed at).

Ergo I'm clevererer than M'ON.

Come back Flo Po (as back-up for Torres)!

Atletico Madrid striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle has hinted that he could consider joining Marseille, but insists he has yet to be contacted by the French club.

The former Liverpool and Blackburn player has struggled for first-team football at the Vicente Calderon as Sergio Aguero and Diego Forlan have enjoyed success.

Pongolle was rumoured to be close to a return to Ewood Park in January and speculation continues to suggest the one-time France cap will leave Spain.

The 24-year-old has most recently been linked with a loan switch to Marseille but he claims he has not been contacted by Stade Velodrome officials.

Pongolle, though, has not ruled out the possibility of moving, saying: "I have not had contact from any French club.

"Marseille is a great club, the biggest in France, but I am in pre-season with my club and training hard for the new season, so let's wait and see.

"If Marseille want me, they know what they can do."

To be fair, he's not had much chance at Atletico (after a decent start there) with the form of the 45m rated Aguero and golden boot winner Forlan.

I think he's decent. Fulham or the like should sign him.
