Oldham, yo!

A manager should do this behind closed doors. It looks like insecurity when he points the finger at his players in public. Once in a blue moon, fine, but this has happened after most defeats this season. I'm not making a gratuitous dig at him, I hope he grows out of it.

When he says young i assume he means inexperienced, because they're all young for fuck sake! All outfield players under 23 bar suarez and skrtel.

In the meantime former Swansea boss, northern irishman Brendan Rodgers, used Liverpool FC to try out some ideas when practicing on managing a fotball club.

BR didn't get the selection wrong. Why are people blaming him? It was Oldham, for fuck sake. A perfect opportunity for playing some of the inexperienced lads. Ok, it didn't pay off, but that's the risk you take.

Of the people that are criticising BR's selection, how many of you criticised the selection before the game?

I'd stab a guess that people are levelling criticism at him because he's the manager and the buck stops with him . Yes the players let him down badly but it's his job to analyse the team before hand and be confident they have enough about them to win . For an FA Cup game away to the likes of Oldham , top of your list of concerns would be "do we have enough fight and bottle in the team to handle this " . At some stage he must have asked himself this and gone "yes" . And let's be honest this has happened in a number of similar games this season. He addressed it last week by adding carragher to the team but this week fucked it up .

I'm sorry , i just don't understand this logic that a manager isn't somewhat to blame for a loss even if his players let him down badly . If we work off that logic then a manager should never be sacked as it wasn't his fault , it was always his players .

Although I wouldnt have played Allen, Coates, Robinson or Sterling and would have played Carragher, Agger, Lucas and Gerrard. The fact is that team should take oldham to pieces.
Very disappointed today.
Not with the fact we are out of the cup, I couldnt care less about the cup. Im just disappointed at this one step forward two steps back shit.

This is the season that just keeps on taking.

I think it's more like two steps forward, one step back. Hopefully we can bounce back against Arsenal.

Because whats the one thing you get against a lower league team in the cup almost guaranteed, a battle.

Who did he pick in his side - 2 centre mids instead of 3 for the first time this season? one of whom is notoriously lightweight/burnt out at the moment. 2 kids at fullback, 2 centre backs I'm not sure I've ever witnessed together in front of a keeper I'm not sure can be relied upon. Then 4 forwards.

The lineup looked good because it was all "fuck yea - 4 forwards" but he picked the players, changed it up and it didn't work. I thought the whole thing was a bit of a fuck up and it falls on the manager because the skill is picking a weakened side that can still win. When Rafa did this he got criticised, Rodgers deserves the same.

I like Rodgers but this is not the first time he's fielded a team that didn't work and had to change mid game.

The bottom line is, as Oncy pointed out, he picked a weakened team that should have destroyed Oldham.

“I was bitterly disappointed with the young players as they had a chance to compete for a club that has to challenge for trophies,” Rodgers said. “We lost our concentration and only had spells when we were at the right level.”

I still can't get over what Robinson said to Suarez. You don't tell the guy who's been carrying the team for about 2 years to fuck off. You keep your fucking head down and fucking eat it.

Well everyone has their own opinion but to me it looks like he picked 11 players that were better than the oppositions 11, that's all.

It's like an England friendly when the manager fucks about a bit and tries stuff and it doesn't come off, yea they fielded a better set of players but no the blend/tactics/formation didn't work. Thats down to the manager and this was a knockout competition.

I didn't see the lineup until the match kicked off - but my first thoughts were - why isn't Carragher playing and why are we playing 4 forwards.

If it had been Anfield - ok - but it was inviting trouble, which a calamatious starting performance duly delivered.

After getting a grip of the game it was then thrown away again - and I really think the lack of a leader figure and organiser on the pitch was a major contributory factor.

There's more to it that just putting a group of, albeit talented, individuals on the pitch - they still have to come together and perform.

I agree with Townsend when he says start with best team then bring them off when job done. Hate it when managers start with best players on the bench. They've got their kit on its cold why not play then from start rather than risk injury when they come on in a panic like stevie did at the end.

I fell asleep for most of the second half, did the above really happen??

Its got nothing to do with Rodgers. Its Kennys fault. He was the one buing Carroll when he obviously should have bought Borini.

Yep. All he had to do was square it but he went for glory and smashed the ball over the bar, Suarez had a go and the camera went straight to Robinson and he clearly shouted "fuck off" at Suarez.

Hahahaha.
Oldham team in the tie:
Cost - 0

Liverpool team in the tie:
Cost - 114m

Fucking fannies.

Rodgers looked like he wanted to strangle him aswell.

Suarez was in a great position in the box and Robinson could have just hit it low into the area.

Ha, incredible.

Remember Pennant telling Didi Hamann to fuck off away to Birmingam one night? I nearly jumped through the TV at the insolent wee cunt.

Some cheek from Robinson too given that he's absolutely fucking shite and has no place on a football pitch nevermind in a Liverpool team.

Poor all round really, no one covered themselves in glory apart from a bit of heart from Gerrard and Henderson.

I felt sorry for Coates though, poor performance but his confidence is clearly in tatters.

Thank you.

I dont feel sorry for any of the cunts, with the exception of Suarez, Gerrard and Johnson.
The rest of them can eat a dick.
