masch comes into his own in the european games.

i'd also trade him for eto'o and look towards a new defensive but more dynamic central midfielder.
[/quote

Hahaha! A more dynamic defensive central midfielder? My God, I'm glad the only transfers you get to do are on the computer! Bet you can't name this player though and no doubt they have already been missed out on already because of Rafa.

You have seen Mascherano play haven't you? He's like a human dynamo, you know as in, dynamic... :🙂

Look, all he's asking for is a player that is like Mascherano, but that can also score goals and split defenses apart with precision passes.

i actually think whilst masch is very good at what he does i wouldn't describe him as dynamic, more specialist.

but hey u go back to thinking lucshit, fat italian, sicknote, city reject and probation only keane was a good use of 40 million pounds.

Good sign he will stay!

Javier Mascherano Wants A 'Better Balanced' Liverpool
The Argentine wants more consistency at Anfield next season...
8 Jun 2009 20:44:00

Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has revealed that he felt the club did not beat enough of the sides beneath them in the domestic table, as their bid to end a 19-year drought of league titles failed, despite some excellent victories over the teams at the top of the Premier League standings.

"It has been a very good experience," he told LFC Magazine. "Of course, it would have been much better for us to win the title, but it is good for us to know what it takes to try and win the league.

"We have drawn a lot of games at home against some of the clubs outside the top four, and we know this is an area we must improve next season.

"This season has been a bit strange. We have done really well against all the top teams but have sometimes struggled to beat the others.

"You win the league when you beat all the teams, the bigger ones and the smaller ones.

"But this season we went to Stamford Bridge, the Bernabeu and Old Trafford and won. This is very positive for the future."

Although the side has proved that it can win in some of the most challenging venues in world football, it now needs to increase its capacity to grind out results, the midfielder feels.

"This team is now showing we can win anywhere, but we need to get the balance right for next season," he concluded.

I can't fucking believe my eyes when i see some of the kids here wanted Mascher gone for Eto'o. Fucking hell! Everyone knows we need a fucking striker to play alongside Torres but to sacrifice Mascher for a striker?? I'd slap every one of you on the head if you agree with this shit deal.

Mascher is vital in our team and we spent 18 fucking mil to get him and we want him sold?? He will be here for many years to come. Plus he is our first teamer. You can have ALonso and Lucas rotate together in midfield but Mascher will be playing 80% of the games. He's the best defensive midfielder in the world. And whoever argue with this is a sap!

Sell someone else to sign Eto'o.

Wait 'till you read the latest quotes from Masch's agent. Rafa should ban the greasy fucker from Anfield.

“If a club like Barcelona want to bring you into their ranks after having completed such a brilliant season and having won everything, obviously as a player, you are going to say, ‘Yes, I want to play there,’†he told RAC-1 programme ‘Tu Diras’.

“It is an honour for Javier that a club like Barca pay such close attention to him, especially after the incredible season they had. I believe that a transfer would be feasible. If Barca really want him, he will sign for them.â€

Tamer also believes that ‘Masche’ would have no problems fitting into Pep Guardiola’s setup at the Camp Nou.

“He would have a very easy job at Barca,†claimed the agent.

“Sometimes we talk and joke that the only thing he has to do is run, rob the ball, and pass it on to all the superstars in front of him.â€

Tamer, however, is aware that a Mascherano switch to Catalunya is not as easy as it seems, especially since Liverpool have to be willing to sell first.

“I have spoken with [Barca technical director] Txiki Begiristain before, but we have not been in contact for a while now,†the representative asserted.

“To have something concrete, we have to talk to Liverpool first to know what their options are for Javier to leave, and then talk to Barcelona to find out their level of interest.

“What if Xabi Alonso also leaves? Surely, [liverpool manager] Rafael Benitez would not want to have both his central midfielders go. It will be difficult, although Xabi’s future does not depend on Mascherano and vice-versa.

“The transaction would certainly happen, but the first to leave will have more options.â€

It's from Goal.com, though I presume they've nicked it from elsewhere.

I've read it, but it didn't mention anything about Mascher wanting to leave us to Barca. No quotes whatsoever about it from Mascher. The agent cwhore himself like all the top players agent normally do.

Could have fooled me. They've obviously been haggling for a move since the end of the season, hence Masch going on SSN and doing that bizarre interview and setting the wheels in motion.

If he wants to go he can fuck off, but we want top dollar.

Fuck. What a start to the summer.

If Barca want Masher we should insist on 40m+ or a deal involving Iniesta.

So, a Lucas / Martinez central midfield anyone?

It was always going to the same with Perez taking over and City lingering around like a bad smell. With the recent speculation about the owners, a few clubs probably think they cherry pick our players. And I'm sure a lot of the top foreign lads have got agents in their ears advising them to move for tax purposes.

Time to play hardball. No one moves unless it's on our terms.

His words were altered. Sensationalism sells. If you believe it, you are indeed a big fool. He wants to stay. Rafael wants him to stay. And NO, we should not sell him at whatever cost Barca will offer. He's the future. Best defensive midfielder in the world.

Hmmm... if Xabi AND Masher really are unsettled, it's a pretty horrible situation to be in.

Who would be a good candidate to replace Masher if he were to leave?

Wishful thinking at best. He went on Sky for the sole purpose of letting clubs know he might be available. Only a fool would believe otherwise. If he stays, fine, but don't patronise me and tell me he definitely wants to stay as you have no idea.

Martinez-Hamsik middle partnership? 😉

On a more serious note, perhaps Gattuso? or Ambrosini? Maybe Van Bommel or Diarra.

Regardless of Xabi or Masch leaving, I'd like us to sign Mark Noble. Cracking player and will be even better under the right guidance.

We cannot possibly let Xabi AND Mascher leave in the same summer - it's unthinkable. Of the two, I think it's more important to keep Xabi, as there are other Mascher-like players around (Lassana Diarra; Yaya Touré), but none that I can think of who could do what Xabi does for us.

Having said that, they're both on long contracts and we are under no obligation to sell either. Make that clear to them and wait for a ridiculous offer. If not, they stay with us.

Some might argue that we don't need a Masher in the majority of games.

Unless we get silly money both of them can shut the fuck up. If we had to lose one, though, I rather it was Masch as there isn't anyone out there who is compatible with Xabi. He makes us tick and is vastly underrated in that defensive/holding role.
