5 goals for, 3 points. Fantastic performance all round. Chuffed for Sterling and Flanagan is looking even better with each game. There is good coaching for you.

Two moans. Why no substitutions for Suarez and Gerrard when the three points were snagged? And why don't our defenders attack crosses?

Wonderful result. Now back to basics. West Ham. 3 points essential.

Yup ... we must win that game. 6 out of 9 isn't great, considering we lost to Hull ... but I'mw ith martinez's line of thinking ... 2 points per game and we are int he Champs League

Rodgers didn't look too pleased at any point today, did he? I also thought we were rather poor today, except for the genius in the #7 shirt.

I thought he looked disgusted at the last 20 minutes of play, which if true would be very pleasing, cos we were all over the place again.

That's a really worrying trend, and hopefully his disgust manifests itself into him doing something about it.

Johnson can be far too lax at times.
Any full back that stands and watches a cross going into the box needs a kick in the hole.

Agreed. There were some good moments in attack but by and large we were propped up by Suarez who won the game on his own more or less.

I still haven't quite gotten over the game against Hull to be honest. I loved watching Suarez tonight but I'm still pretty disgusted with side generally speaking. Apologies in advance if that makes me a bad supporter or whatever.

I think Suarez obv, Allen, Gerrard and countinho were decent today, the rest were a bit shit, especially the defence, they were all over the place. Agger was bollocks, can't head a ball. I'd have played Sakho if he wants to persist with Skrtel. We kept losing the ball. I presume Rodgers was pissed off because they're not listening to him, and it's not like we're up against top quality opposition and they're forcing us out of our game.

I thought agger did well until the goal. Sadly caught napping and outmuscled

Happy Alberto got some minutes. I like the cut of his jib. Ridiculous he didn't play when Coutinho was injured. It would have been a perfect test for him.

Yup. Agree completely. He looked comfortable slotting in today. Hopefully he gets more minutes

@Fabio

His technique and awareness is there to see. I like how he goes about his business looking for space. Just a case of whether he has it in him to express himself and impact games for us.

Hoping to see him get more minutes against West Ham.

He'll be a good player. For us or elsewhere, he'll do very well.

I missed the Hull game (and have no particular desire to look for a recording, to be honest). But if anything, tonight shows that the loss was not a blip. We seem to be in poor run of form as a team at the moment, one magnificent individual performance notwithstanding. Apart from Suarez, I don't think ANYONE had a good game today, to be honest. Coutinho was clearly the best of the rest, but for all the nice touches he had, his main weapon - the through ball - is still not working like it hasn't been all season.

Henderson for me was very disappointing and I wonder if his substitution today is a sign of things to come. With Sturridge out we will need much more cutting edge from our midfielders to compensate and at present Henderson lacks any conviction in his finishing. Allen gave the ball away 3 times inside our half under little pressure - hardly a strong case to replace Lucas long-term. Sterling was very timid in the 1st half, but then grew in confidence, which was good to see. Still, I would not rely on him against quality opponents. Basically we have 2 attacking positions out of 4 up for grabs and even the 3rd one (Coutinho) is not completely effective, if you judge by the standards of the top clubs.

The first ten minutes aside Steven Gerrard was outstanding he was pinging balls all over the pitch and making dangerous runs into the box.
He was terrific I thought.

Thought we played an okay game to be fair. Allen, Gerrard , Coutinho all had a good game. Sterling and Johnson improved as the game went on. The defence didnt have that much to do, but conceded a shite goal and lost posession stupidly a few times. I dont want to see Flanagan starting tbh. It fucks up the left side. Had a steady game but against better opposition we'll get murdered. Suarez - World Class!! All in all. 3 important points and a good start to make up for the Hull game. Now more of the same against West Ham!

Alberto has bulked up a bit since he arrived. It was his relative lack of physical presence for a tallish lad in the PL that made me doubt his chances (which is something I posted a few weeks ago, I think). I've just read that that's he's been working hard in the gym and "... improved in many aspects: my physique is better and I am heavier now - these details contribute to better preparation.". I think we can conclude that's a major reason why his opportunities have been so few, so far; he's been toughening and sharpening up.
