Norwich match thread

What a shame... If you can't turn a freebie like coutinhos into a goal then it's not easy to win matches.

This is on the players. I hope they step up and take some of the pressure off Rodgers in the coming days.

Loads of positives today!

Yawn

Foul throws: I'm not sure what bemuses me most - the number of times in many matches that they happen, or the inexplicably random occasions when refs decide to notice them.

Sometimes I wonder whether referees quietly agree among themselves, possibly without even directly discussing the matter, that there are certain things they just aren't going to bother penalising. It's the same in rugby - for example I don't think I've seen a straight put-in to any scrum in the World Cup so far, and not one has been pinged.

He'll be looking up a Carlisle badge. The massive wit.

I really dont see the point of getting him back here from that ban.
I laughed out loud at his rant at Mark. "Who are you to give me a warning? I dont accept it".

He'll turn up at Marks house tonight on his horse challenging him to a duel.

More likely to just report him I would think.

Very plausible. Coutinho's today was a real Charles Hawtrey-style camp-tastic effort, but, really, if you're going to ignore most of them, then ignore them all!

Philippe Coutinho: Had 10 shots vs Norwich - three more than the entire #NCFC side - but hit the target just twice

I agree with those who say that today's was a better performance and gives me some hope. We were getting more players forward when we attacked, and the back four were much better with Sakho in the line-up. I don't think Milner is contributing quite as much in midfield as we were hoping he would. We were relying on Clyne and Moreno to provide the width going forward, and although they did a decent job, we could have done with a proper winger to get behind the Norwich defence. As far as I can see, the only winger on our books is Ibe and he isn't on great form at the moment.

Milner received a pretty harsh yellow card shortly after the kick-off. I wondered whether that had affected his game for the rest of the match.

Weren't we all lauding Milner when he signed as he was this experienced, intelligent footballer? Thus a yellow card early doors surely couldn't affect him that much?

I didnt watch the game.
Disappointing result. A win would really have given us a shot in the arm.

Im a bit concerned that the manager has signed a 30m player that is basically useful in one position and thats the same position that out best player plays in......and the same position that he spent 20m on a player for last season.

The fact as soon as Sturridge is fit he reverts to 4-4-2 diamond meaning we have ONE AM, it seems a bit mental that we have spent 50m on Firmino and Lallana in 18 months when Coutinho is the one inarguable top player we have.

Its all very haphazard.
I think its going to be a long season.
