I have no idea why people are worried about how this will be reported in the press and media

it will just be; 'liverpool go out early to a lower league team, again. meh'
Unlikely Neil. It'll be overhyped in the press as per. I'm personally not that arsed. It think the CC is a joke cup anyway, but it was a chance to give our youngsters a run out.

their left back looked better than all ours put together. maybe we should buy him and that way dreamy will spin some positive out of it.

We are supposed to be about trophies, and to be honest this was our far best shout of a trophy this season.

There is no fucking excuse, none whatsoever for this.

If we're going to field the youngsters, I'd play them in their natural positions. Pacheco and Wilson i e.

But at the end of the day, as Jermaine Pennant says, N'Gog and Babel should be enough upfront to get some goals against a league two side. And they were our worst players. It just shows how fucked we are if Torres gets injured.

left flank:
wilson (a center back, hardly ever played at LB)
jove (a striker)

right flank
kelly (a center back)
patches (a forward)

CM
lucas (a holding midfielder)
spearing (a holding midfielder)

and people are wondering why there was no service to the strikers and no fluency in midfield

And before anyone starts a lengthy chalkboard rant explaining tactically why we lost, it doesn't matter, we were playing northampton town.

120 mins of football played.

Shots on goal:

4

Four shots on goal at home to Northfuckinghampton.

*takes out chalk board*

Is anyone worried about the media?
Salman Butt.

We lost against Portsmouth in that friendly cup thing. It was in Thailand or somewhere.

Roy's breaking records left, right and centre isn't he?

Im not bothered that were out the carling cup.
Im bothered that our reserves arent as good as a team 3 places off the conference mind you.

Its also worrying that Roy has already all but given up on two of four competitions. This is gonna suck this year. Its hard to maintain blag optimism when EVERYFUCKINGTHING is so shit.

Wait, I've been at work...

We lost to Northampton Town at Anfield?

...........

That really is fucking appalling.

Why is everyone making such a big deal out of it? Yeah we lost thats shit, but he played young kids and gave them a chance which is what most of us wanted. If he put out torres, gerrard etc against a league 2 side we would have been saying give youth a chance. Big deal, its a shit cup anyway, chelsea are out too aswell as man city, just means we can concentrate more on the league

He needs to grow a pair of balls and just take the hard decisions..........

*unless, he too is one of the guys, in the Pakistan Cricket setup, who has realized no balls are more profitable.

I do care about the League Cup.

We should be aiming to win every competition we're in. Imagine the mood if we actually won something this year. It could give us something to build on.

Gnashing of teeth... Do not give a fuck really tbh. I do feel sorry for anybody who bothered to pay though, if the comp means that little to us nowadays (?!) Then why didn't we just play a youth team or a reserve team who at least have played alongside each other before? Silly team that ... Absolutely no positives can be taken from that match and 5 points only in the league! ... Although it is true that Roy is a stop gap appointment he doesn't have to wave his mediocrity in our faces, regardless of the games unimportance we need a boost and that certainly isn't it.

Decent post, about right.

I did mention to Andy about the fact I thought we should have played a team who have played together before & left a few senior players on the bench to strengthen if we needed.

It's a shame that when our kids do get a game, they're played alongside rejects or in a poor tactical scheme. It was one of Rafa's failings, IMO, and so far while Roy has shown more willingness to play the prospects, he's not sending them out with much chance to win.
