NEW : Former Liverpool managing director Christian Purslow has stepped down from his position as the CEO of Aston Villa after five years at the club. #lfc [liverpool echo]

Did ok for us didn't he by being the lead instigator behind H&G fucking off & his last masterstroke at Villa was appointing Emery.
None of the people I know who worked for the club had good words to say about him. Huge ego, apparently.
Also heard a story that when we converted the old club offices at Anfield into what is now the Boot Room restaurant, we were all set to move the admin operations to the Liver Building (I mean, it literally has the club badge on the roof). All in hand until Purslow went to check it out and got his hair messed up by the wind, so he canned the whole thing.

[article]Liverpool great Steven Gerrard is a target for the Saudi Pro League.

The former Aston Villa manager is ready to jump back into management this summer.

Leeds United and Leicester City have been mentioned as potential destinations.

But Reuters says Saudi club Al-Ettifaq wants Gerrard as new coach.

And Gerrard is open to a move to Saudi Arabia. He is now considering the offer from Al-Ettifaq.[/article]

This is what sportwashing is. Do they care whether Gerrard is a good manager that will bring them results? Do they fuck. The top 4 clubs in Saudi Arabia are all owned by the same entity. They will probably “appoint” a champion in the back room before the season even starts. What they care about is buying global names and stars to give them legitimacy. I’m sorry Gerrard lent them his, but he is far from the only one.

I wonder if Real will back out of the Bellingham deal in the last moment… They probably don’t have money for both.

Aren't the clubs usually the ones that are able to trigger an extra year in the players contract....how much power does this guy have?

Yeah, it would be normal for the club to have the option, but you might see a player extension option subject to conditions (e.g. minimum appearances for a player with a poor injury record or who wasn't expected to contribute too much).
PSG have been royally fucked over by Mbappe. Don't care how good he is, the guy and / or his advisors are toxic and I wouldn't want him anywhere near my club.

I guess I could live with that midfield:

----K.Thuram--------Valverde----
-------Tchouameni---Trent-------

Arsenal apparently paying £90m+ add ons to over £100m for Declan Rice.

That’s a lot.

Loads of action today.
Mochi to join Villa.
Although freebies for Tielemans and Ox don’t exactly feel like sensible Seville like signings.

It is but just what Arse need.
24, 2yrs left on his contract in theory, English, and great drive and hunger from midfield. Also seems a big personality off the pitch. I think a great signing for them.

So it looks like the timing of Mbappe’s decision took everyone by surprise, which means this has potential to reshuffle quite a lot of things in the market. Some teams will need to offload players in order to make a bid for Mbappe - part-exchange with Madrid for Tchouameni would make a lot of sense, but they already signed Ugarte (but didn’t announce yet). Will they regret doing their business early? And now that PSG will need to buy a brand-new frontline, they will probably bid for Salah, which will change our plans too. A summer of turmoil awaits.

Declan rice is an adequate incoming with xhaka leaving. I see no difference in their quality.

Rice is younger and English. 100 mil for him is fucking hilarious. I hope they pay anywhere near that.

Do you think PSG will go for Salah?

I’m not so sure.

With Messi and Mbappe walking away they need wide forwards on both sides. But maybe more importantly for PSG they need stars, it's the only way for them to generate media coverage in a league nobody gives 2 fucks about. Add in that Mo is the most famous Muslim footballer and a huge star in the middle east Id be very surprised if he's not at the top of their list if potential signings.

Or maybe they try a different strategy to the Galatico one that hasn’t brought the CL success they want.

I dunno - maybe they go for Salah… I’m not sure how I feel about it - could be an opportunity for us to get the funds needed to bring in a couple of high quality players or fuck us up totally given he’s the one that’s still scoring or creating a huge portion of our goals.

I like Gakpo, but don’t think anyone in that deep role can score loads, and I wouldn’t want to be relying on Jota’s fitness or Donkey Brain going god mode.

Still… maybe.

Sell Salah for £300m to Saudi & buy Mbappe. Simples.

although unfortunately this being announced the day Qatar look to have finalised their purchase of United looks suspiciously orchestrated.

I dont want Mbappe anywhere near our team. Fantastic player but sounds like a massive prick.
