I actually feel for their fans - I doubt one of them is happy with this decision. Don't see why they should suffer for their boards stupidity. Unfortunately all us fans do ultimately

I think a lot of teams come up these days and have unrealistic expectations and think they can fly high due to lack of knowledge of their teams e.g. Wigan coming top half in the Chimbonda/ Baines days, Reading in the Doyle period, West Brom, Swansea etc.

As you know one of my best friends is a die hard Saint and season ticket holder and he is broken hearted.
I would want them to crash and burn but it isnt the fans fault.
I hope Adkins has a great career, I think he has done a fantastic job there.

Yep. My facts may be a little off but it's something like when he took over 28 months ago, Southampton were mid table in League One.

I don't follow Southampton closely so this may be a 'new owners, new plan' but if not, then the ingratitude is off the scale.

As he's an ex-Liverpool player I'm particularly peeved by this

Their improvement probably has a whole lot more to do with money than Adkins, they were taken over not long before Adkins was out in charge and spent money you don't typically see newly promoted sides spend in recent years.
