Oklahoma were fucking shit defensively (acknowledging that it was a defensive play that won them the game). Jimbo Fisher and Christian Ponder must be watching that tape and thinking they have a decent chance. That Seminoles team is good anyway. But you have to fancy the Sooners will only get better. Their squad is loaded going both ways.
If Texas win the Big 12 they'll go to a BCS. If they don't, they probably won't, unless they only have one loss (i.e. Cornhuskers in the championship game). Then they'll probably get in as at at large, a la the Gators last year.
I love the Broncos. Love them. But the deck is stacked against them. They have to go unbeaten. It's a one game season for them right now. If they lose to Viginia Tech tonight, it's over. If they win, and they beat Oregon State on smurf turf in week three (which they will), then they'll be ranked pretty high (although the computers won't like their weak late sked). But any AQ teams who go unbeaten will go to Glendale before them. I like to think that they'll be ranked ahead of any one loss BCS sides if they're unbeaten, but sometimes you don't know. They started high in the rankings this year, which is new. Several good seasons, coupled with their two brilliant Fiesta Bowl wins, and I think they're seen as legit across the board. Which should help them late in the season.
Fact is, Boise would fucking paint it on most sides. I think they were the second best team in the country last year, don't think the Longhorns would have lived with them in a bowl game. Chris Petersen is a great coach, and he prepares well for big games. Believe he's been all over Va-Tech this summer. Boise are going to be drilled.
But we're in danger of looking past the Hokies here. They are a big fucking team, and the Williams-Evans-Tyrod triumvirate will take some stopping. And this is basically a home game for them. Should be a great match.
