NFL Regular Season Thread 2010

Golgotha I'm putting you in the sweepstake. You can like it or......well that's it really. I'll let you know your teams directly.
And Ross I think you should go with your sweepstake team as 'Your' team.

Jesus. I can barely bring myself to cheer for the Bears, and I love them. Now you want me to cheer for some other pack of cunts?

I hate pro ball.

Mack Brown didn't seem too willing to let Gilbert run the show though. Similar situation to Florida.

Funniest thing all weekend was Ole Miss. How's that working out for you, Jeremiah? Jacksonville State? Just arranging games with FCS teams is bad enough. But losing to them... Good for Jack Crowe though. Loved the two point call at the death.
Well he is a bit inexperienced. They have high hopes for this kid in Austin.

When do they not?

I thought he was alright, nothing out of the ordinary. Rice are not a good team, and they led going into the 2nd quarter. It wasn't convincing from Texas. Like Florida, they can only get better mind. Both Brantley and Gilbert are going to have to improve drastically to get out of the shadow of their previous QBs. It was Keenan Robinson who really got Texas rolling, rather than Gilbert or their stuttering run game.

Big 12 looked iffy this weekend. Oklahoma, DeMarco Murrey aside, didn't impress at all. Kendall Hunter went fucking batshit for the Cowboys though, averaging over 12 yards a carry. They look a threat, especially as Texas and Oklahoma's defences looked a mess. Longhorns have Oklahoma and Ok St at home this year though. That trip to Nebraska is looking like trouble though. Final Big 12 clash between them, and MArtinez was hot at the weekend.

I will be pleasantly surprised if the Longhorns make it to any of the big bowl games this year. I thought Oklahoma will but not on weekend's showing. If Boise win tonight, I think they will or should make it to the National Championships.

Oklahoma were fucking shit defensively (acknowledging that it was a defensive play that won them the game). Jimbo Fisher and Christian Ponder must be watching that tape and thinking they have a decent chance. That Seminoles team is good anyway. But you have to fancy the Sooners will only get better. Their squad is loaded going both ways.

If Texas win the Big 12 they'll go to a BCS. If they don't, they probably won't, unless they only have one loss (i.e. Cornhuskers in the championship game). Then they'll probably get in as at at large, a la the Gators last year.

I love the Broncos. Love them. But the deck is stacked against them. They have to go unbeaten. It's a one game season for them right now. If they lose to Viginia Tech tonight, it's over. If they win, and they beat Oregon State on smurf turf in week three (which they will), then they'll be ranked pretty high (although the computers won't like their weak late sked). But any AQ teams who go unbeaten will go to Glendale before them. I like to think that they'll be ranked ahead of any one loss BCS sides if they're unbeaten, but sometimes you don't know. They started high in the rankings this year, which is new. Several good seasons, coupled with their two brilliant Fiesta Bowl wins, and I think they're seen as legit across the board. Which should help them late in the season.

Fact is, Boise would fucking paint it on most sides. I think they were the second best team in the country last year, don't think the Longhorns would have lived with them in a bowl game. Chris Petersen is a great coach, and he prepares well for big games. Believe he's been all over Va-Tech this summer. Boise are going to be drilled.

But we're in danger of looking past the Hokies here. They are a big fucking team, and the Williams-Evans-Tyrod triumvirate will take some stopping. And this is basically a home game for them. Should be a great match.
Ha. Houshmandzada (sp) has signed for Baltimore. A very capable WR formerly from the Bengals for QB Flacco to go to.

Great game between Boise State and the Hokies. Boise State take a 17-0 lead. Hokies come back to make it 21-20. now Boise State take the lead 26-21. Still the 3rd quarter.

Boise State 33 Hokies 30. What a great game and a fantastic performance by Boise State. They should make the national championship now.

That was a great match. The press reaction in the Stats is going to be favourable too. I just hope everyone remembers this come January.

Plus, I hope all the big BCS sides lose games. Love to see the Broncos win them some national title.

I get that a lot. Not just to do with gridiron. I speaks the sense that makes the kind that doesn't.

I feel that way about nearly everything MC says in this thread.
His level of knowledge is pretty impressive.

I've convinced myself Megatron will go to Baltimore next year if there are no signs of progress.

No idea why, I've just got the idea stuck in my head somehow.

The trick is make it all up and sound confident. Nobody ever calls you on it.

If you have another shit season you might have to start trading someone. All those top five pick contracts will fill your cap.

The Bears are doing it right. A five year cruise into shiteness that culminates with number one picks just after the rookie cap is introduced. Lovie knows the difference between a tactic and a strategy.

What are Baltimore's chances, given that I have them in the sweepstakes?

I think they'll go very close for what its worth.

RICO! you're alive! 🙂

what are OUR chances? our OL is thin but we have so much talent, maybe it can all click ... I'm not confident.

And probably end up playing TCU. Wouldn't that go down like a lead balloon?
