NFL Regular Season Thread 2010

Keep expecting to see Irving Fryar lining up out there.
[/quote]

man! you're old school! i remember fryar more from the eagles (i think he played there). didn't his career end b/c of concussions?

i used to love meggett when he was on the patriots. I hated him on the giants for obvious reasons, but once he was there - i liked him.

remember rodney hampton? ha ha ha

yah, garrett is like phillips. 4th and 1? a pitch out to marion barber? what the fuck ...

i hope the cowboys cut barber in the offseason - he's not worth the money that was paid, and besides being a 'great locker room guy', he's an average RB that is taking carries away from Choice & Jones.

only watched the 1st half but the final scores shows that the team at least fights for Garrett and that we should have won bar Roy "Leon Lett" Williams late fumble. Maybe Garrett will be ok.

Garrett will almost certainly keep the job next year. Unless something bizarre happens the CBA won't get inked until sometime in the summer, meaning the teams will probably have their doors closed until August. No way any sensible owner forks out zoo dollars on a big name coach and have them try to teach new schemes both sides of the ball in two weeks. Would be no surprise to see Garrett and Frazier in place next season.

And Happy Thanksgiving, Karl. Turned out to be a pretty sweet season for the Aggies. Just unfortunate that the Big 12 tiebreakers won't really let them in the championship game this year. Polls are against you.

Silver lining though, Longhorns aren't going to a bowl. That's pretty funny after they spent all summer climbing over dead bodies to reach more dollars.

Yeah. Which makes for an interesting dilemma for some players. I suspect players will declare themselves eligible for the draft even without a CBA arranged, particularly as the new CBA will almost certainly contain a rookie cap for all players drafted 2012 onwards.

The NFLPA will decertify itself to outlaw a lockout anyway. There will just be a lot of 11th hour posturing and then an agreement. It'll make pre-season short and awkward, but there's no way something as profitable as the NFL loses a season. This isn't ice hockey.

Alright lads. I've seen hardly football this season but I have been reading up on the Jets after every game.
They are doing the business so far and seem to contenders.

What do you reckon lads, do they have it in them?

Hadn't thought about the extra eligibility in the draft. Sadly there still doesn't seem to be an Orlando Pace or Joe Thomas though. Patrick Peterson it is then.

There really isn't an elite offensive tackle in the draft. Even if there was he'd have to be a fucking beast to make Detroit look past Petersen.

Derek Sharrod is probably the best OT out there. He's had a pretty good season for the Bulldogs. I'd have him protecting Cutler. Gabe Carimi has looked good for Wisconsin recently. Anthony Castonzo and Nate Solder are alright too, but I wouldn't be shocked if none of them went in the first round. Although there are a lot of teams out there who need someone covering their blindside that might take a gamble to secure one of them.

Alabama 24-0 up on Auburn and then someone woke Cam Newton up. Auburn win 28-27. Hello BCS title game and Heisman trophy.

Unless South Carolina continue their absurd Jekyll and Hyde act.

The whole Titans team is filth. Fisher has his team hit late and hit players without the ball.

You can pinpoint the exact moment when Finnegan realises he has bitten off more than he can chew. And then he tries to save face by applauding Johnson after he's clouted him round the head. Chump.

TCU are joining the Big East. Which makes you wonder about Boise, Nevada, Fresno & Hawaii joining the Mountain West. It's basically just going to be the new WAC. Half the WAC moves in and Utah, BYU and TCU move out. Pointless. If all those teams had stayed the Mountain West would have had a strong argument for BCS status. They would have been at least as strong as the Big East or ACC.

The Big 12 needs to go for some of those schools, I have no idea why they were not after TCU.

They need to add 2 more schools in the next few years to regain a championship game, which is going to help with the BCS rankings in the future.

I think Boise St, Air Force, Nevada, or even Arkansas are all reasonable targets.

Yeah, TCU definitely seem to fit the Big 12 market beter you would have thought. Although, with Texas's revenue agreement now everyone is fighting for scraps there. Boise and Nevada should be looking to a BCS conference. I imagine their natural instinct would be to look west, where they recruit a lot, but how big can the PAC10/12 get? TCU's move has the smack of genius because they instantly become one of the best teams in an AQ conference and open themselves up to media markets they usually aren't exposed to.

Nobody would ever leave the SEC for the Big 12. The money is large in the SEC and is equally distributed. Plus, Arkansas have conference games against Ole Miss and LSU now. I'd say the agreement to play the Aggies long term rules out any thoughts of joining the Big 12.

Cracking first quarter in the SEC title game. Cam Newton is tearing one off. 21-7 Auburn with two minutes of the first to go.

Oh my Jesus. Newton just heaved a fifty yard Hail Mary that was tipped into the hands of Darvin Adams for a TD.

Spurrier is going to fuck someone in the face for that.
