And if Jerry doesn't releinquish day-to-day control, it won't make any real difference...
Oh well, time will tell ...
It will, mate. Thing is, if he doesn't do all that he can to get Cowher or Gruden or even Tony Dungy in here, and you lot hire a John Fox or Harbough or even retain Jason Garrett, that in itself is a sign that he's still not prepared to acknowledge that he's the problem and relinquish his grip on everything.

The hire will tell us all that we need to know. I hope he cops on - This town is infinitely more interesting when the Cowboys are competitive.

Is there even a discussion anymore about Jones's control of footballing matters being the problem? Jimmuh won as he had control over the team (until he didn't...) and Switzer basically won with Jimmuh's Team + Prime Time. What's the record since 1995? Two play-off game wins? I mean, it's more than Cleveland I guess, but...

And the paradigm of how Johnson built his team is not something that can be repeated now. The Walker trade deal was the maddest shit I ever saw, and the salary cap reduces massive free agent signings now. Jones can't be the rockstar of the team. He needs some savvy people in making football decisions.

Or not. I'm happy chuckling at him every year.

Despite my mild distaste for all things Texas football, happy to put my hands up and say I might have been wrong about the lad McCoy. Tad early to tell, but he's certainly faring better as a pro than I thought he would. Seems to have figured out when to use his wheels too.

And is Ryan Fitzpatrick going to fool the Bills into not taking a signal caller in the first next year?

Unfortunately for Cowboys fans, the only person who doesn't agree that Jerry Jones is the problem, is the only person who matters.

Wisconsin put 83 points up on the Hoosiers today. Had twelve possessions in the match. 11 touchdowns and a field goal.

And there it is!

The Lions have broke the record for the most consecutive away losses (previously held by the Lions), and prevented someone from equalling their "perfect" record for a second year in a row.

Bring on Dallas next week!

Colt McCoy is looking impressive ... Watched most of the Jets/Browns game and were it not for a fumble during their 1st drive in OT, the Browns beat the Jets ...

Cowboys are up 16-3 in the 2nd ... Can't say I'm surprised that the team is responding, but they'll lose this 24-19 or something

Don't worry, you'll win next week. Kitna will probably have 400 yards and 6 TD's.
How will we get the 1st pick in the draft if we beat you guys? GO LIONS!!!! 😉

Haha, I remember a few years ago all we had to do was lose to Dallas and we'd have number 1 pick. The Lions being the Lions couldn't even manage that of course, and won impressively.

Not that it mattered, the Raiders got Jamarcus Russell and we got Calvin Johnson 🙂

He is doing the business. Kudos. Happy for him. The Texan cunt.

Do you Cowboys fans consider it better if: a) Garrett steers the team towards respectability for the remainder of the season and is given the reins on a permanent basis starting next season or b) they continue to be awful and a Cowher/Harborough/Gruden/Dungy type is brought in during the offseason?

I'm torn right now in the middle ... so a.5 I guess (or b.5)

The problem Jerry is going to have is when does he appoint a new guy? We don;t know if there will be football next year, and he isn't going to give anyone a permanent contract until the CBA is sorted. That won't happen until it has to happen, which will be next summer at the eleventh hour, not giving a lot of time for a new coach to come in. So I wouldn't be surprised to see Garrett's temporary tenure extended for a year.

Come on MC, what's the chances of them cancelling football for the year? The league will take years to recover - they can't take a chance considering the damage strikes did in the last two decades in other sports (Notably MLB & NHL).

There's almost no chance, but that's not my point. My point is, as long as there is ANY chance, there is no way Jerry will part with money for a new contract until he is one hundred percent certain there will be football. And that won't be sorted out until the last possible minute, like everything else in the NFL. The only thing Jerry likes as much as himself is his money.

Not looking great for TCU. Utah lose in South Bend and the human polls have Boise closing fast on TCU. The Texans only have one more game, whereas Boise have three, including a big ranked match against Nevada. Stakes are pretty high here. Depending on what happens elsewhere, whichever one of them that doesn't get the guaranteed non-AQ place might miss out on an at-large place as there are some big one loss BCS teams out there. Shit will get compounded if Auburn lose the Iron Bowl.

In fact, if Alabama do beat Auburn, we could have the odd situation where LSU are ranked above the SEC champions. Presumably the human polls will try to compensate for that nonsense.

BCS is clown shoes. Badly needs revamping.

Ha ha! Saw that on Around The Horn the other week. Hilarious. Imagine how hard your quarterback would get punished if you tried that bullshit in the pros.

A&M beats OU, finally!!
Out Nebraska'd Nebraska last night.

Nebraska has only their coach to blame for some of those penalties, especially that roughing the passer call, that was pure karma.

He was being an ass on the sidelines.

Another good week for Boise. TCU are idle, the Broncos thrash Fresno, and VA Tech beat ranked Miami to clinch an ACC title game berth.

I fucking hate our o-line. How is Stephen Peterman still starting? He must give up about 3 penalties EVERY game.

We like shit penalties.
