NFL Off Season - FAs, Trades, Draft etc

Jets for me as long as they sort out the Revis situation. He's the best cornerback in the league. And now they've added Kyle Wilson and Antonio Cromartie to that. I don't know where people are going to throw at them.

"Is that big news? It's every year. It's like Groundhog Day with him, isn't it? Nah, I'm not buying it at all. They've still got, what, a month left in training camp. Give him about a week and a half, he'll change his mind."

Patrick Crayton on Favre retirement

Jets from the AFC yes. Not sure about Sanchez though. Overhyped (albeit I'm biased).
All recent USC shot callers have been over-hyped (it's already started with Matt Barkley. Hell, it has already started with David Sills, and he's only 13!), but he got the job done last year. A rookie QB going to the Championship game? Thinking about it, I'm not sure that can be overhyped. It had never happened before. Their running game is tight, and I don't think Jones will be a big loss. Defensively they were RIDICULOUS and they just got better. And Sanchez is a year older. They have a few tough non-divisional games. But then they also have the Lions and the Bears, so...

If he retires, it makes the NFC a wee bit easier for the 'Aints.

He'll be back. It's Favre.

Might I suggest, as the board's resident fan of the Superbowl Champions, that that nickname can and should now be consigned to the history books, my dear sir? 8)

Agree with the comments above about the Jets. They'll take some beating this time around.

I'm choked if Favre actually follows through on retirement. I'm getting tickets to the Vikings home opener this week and was hoping for a re-enaction of the heroics of last year's home opener against San Fran, which was my first NFL game.

They will always be the 'aints. One good year doesn't change that.

We'll see, my Cowboy friend, we'll see.

I'll amend that to 'two good years' if they repeat! 😉

If they do win another one though, they can be the s'Aints. Deal? 😉

That is mad money you're paying Stafford and Suh now. Being in the top ten picks is less and less fun these days. Suh has signed a five year deal, to Stafford's six, so his guaranteed money parses out at more per match too. Eric Berry is an elite prospect, but he's now the highest paid safety in NFL history. How is he paid more than Ed Reed? The union and owners need to hammer out a serious rookie cap when they do the CBA. Shit is going to ruin the league. Imagine Bradford does a Ryan Leaf. There are a ton of quality QBs coming out next year. The top 10 contracts will be sheer lunacy unless they get this sorted.

Ha, but they'll be on a new rookie salary cap 😉

I actually think we'll finish ahead of the bears this year (week 1 is a huge game for the lions) if you fancy a small wager?

And by small, I do mean small 😉

They won't win again. Sorry judge 😉

Reckon I've heard that somewhere before. 8)

Well, until last year, you'd never heard it! 🙂

He's a fucking wanker.
Agreed. He's a comnplete phony, the epitome of the selfish, me-first superstar althlete.

There's not a f#$!ing thing wrong with him. He just thinks himself above training camps and the everyday life of a footballer. He just wants to show up, play, be worshipped, and get all the glory.

I cannot stand him. And he's overrated. VERY overrated.

The thing is, if I supported the vikings and he said he can't be arsed with training camp etc then fine, I wouldn't really care. But don't fuck around like this, again.

Zack Follett or Ndamukong Suh to bring the pain train please.

I don't follow much NFL, but I have to say i love Shanahan's treatment of Haynesworth recently.

Suh is paid the same as Haynesworth in guaranteed money as passed his conditioning test earlier with 'flying colours'. Maybe he should be on more than Albert!

I want to play devil's advocate here. I think this is a joke too tbh but still:

1) Favre obviously doesn't want to deal with training camp for reasons of health or whatever. If this is the best way to protect himself and give the Vikes another shot at the SB (and they were not that far off last year), then it's not being selfish really. If I was a Vikes fan, I would happily have him sit out till whenever as long as snap 1 of the regular season, he's there and ready to win another 10-14 games.

2) He's not overrated. He's one of the best QBs in NFL history. Just like Marino. He may not be a great winner, and he may have choked in his fair share of big games, but he has his ring and has broken records that some of the best in the game held.

Yes he's coming off as a wanker, yes he's not as good as many QBs of his generation (be it Manning, or Brady) but that doesn't mean he's no one of the best.

Even though he has been a Cheesehead AND a Vike, I'd still watch Favre before most QBs. Dude is an old time gunslinger. He doesn't give a fuck how it's supposed to be done on the park, he'll throw it how he wants, and he got it done.

What happens off the the park doesn't bother me so much. He courts the media. He's not free-handing women in a bar or shooting himself in the leg.
