NFL Supplemental Draft next week. It's usually full of dreamers and fuck-ups, but there are a couple of interesting names in there this year.
Harvey Unga is a solid RB and could interest someone for a mid round pick. He went to BYU and left because he broke the crazy Mormon honour code by fingering his bird. Surely even Mormons don't believe their 1-A football players refrain from indulging in relations? Anyways, he won't scare off front offices. I think he works out tomorrow, and half the league will be there to watch.
Unlike Jeremiah Masoli, who lit up the PAC-10 last year but is clearly dumber than a box of rocks. He'd already amply illustrated his stupidity with the burglary/drug shenanigans that got him booted out of the Ducks, and then drives the nail home by suggesting he's not going to redshirt the 2010 season and return for one last year of 1-A in 2011 but instead opt for the SD. Where no NFL team in their right mind will touch him. So, he'll be signing for Oakland then. He hasn't formally applied yet, so maybe he'll save himself yet.
Quentin Castille is another unit of a back. Six-one, 250lbs, runs a 4.8. Had some good times at Nebraska before being thrown out for flagrant rule violations. Played FCS ball at Northwestern last year, but was mostly a back-up in an 0-11 season (they're really fucking brutal. Baylor ran sixty eight points up on them). Hard to tell what he has to offer after disciplinary problems and an odd year in FCS, but had real potential as a tailback for the Cornhuskers.
Joshua Price-Brent is a good bet too. Started all 12 games for Illinois at DT last season. He is one large motherfucker, but a decent tackler and forces fumbles. Booted for a DUI conviction. Looks like a potential pain in the arse, but will likely be drafted anyway as he has alright figures the last couple of seasons.
The other player someone will definitely take a punt on is Vanness Emokpae. He played Div-2 ball for Truman, but scouts have been sniffing around him. Being one of the leading lights at that level he played everywhere in offence except in the line. Primarily a RB, he has decent hands and was used extensively as a wideout. Also ran wildcat plays as a QB and was on special teams for punt and kick returns.
