We were stranded in the desert and now we have a good guide, a destination and the means to get there. We wont get there overnight but have taken big steps. Some forced some planned

I don't understand the fuss over the money and net spend - we don't have a huge amount available but I like the way Dalglish and Commoli handled the Torres deal and reacted quickly to get a replacement.

In doing so they might have sorted out a striking partnership for the next five to ten years.

Suarez and Carroll for Babel and Torres is a step in the right direction

Yep, I'm excited.

Thinking about it a bit more, it's been a long time since I could genuinely say I was happy with what we did in a transfer window.

Nobody not even Oncy can question NESV/FSG ambition.

They pulled a whip under difficult circumstances. Well done!
Why not?
We've sold 56m worth of players
and bought 58m worth of players.
I dont see how that is massively ambitious.

Let's see what happens in the summer. We'll sign who we sign this window. We'll fail on some but you cannot say it was lack of trying. The signs of ambition are definitely there.

"Bought £58 mill's worth of players" qualilfies in my book.

Yeah, the summer will be interesting.

It hasn't seemed like it, but we are still mid-season.

About £10m more than we've spent in our previous few windows. And change for summer transfers and a slap up meal in Mrs Miggins pie shop !
Why mate? Because rumours we offered not enough money to buy many players?
There is nothing to suggest what we have seen today shows signs of a board ready to show massive investment.
We have sold the second to last of our world class players and spent the sum total of 2m this window.
Im not cartwheeling yo.

Andy why are you buying into the SSN bullshitology ? Unless there's a big net spend a club isn't ambitious ? We've spent every penny possible for the last decade.

Do you not think FSG have ambitions for Liverpool ? They're working under tricky conditions - I've bored everyone to tears about the wage bill and everything else but that is one of our problems. Getting back into CL will help with funds too.

We've shown imagination and a bit of boldness in this window regardless of what the net spend was. I think it's hugely positive.

Sorry but absolute bollocks mate.

Take Torres out of the mix and we were looking at signing Adam and Suarez. £30m worth. The Torres situation has clouded your judgement.

Adam deal was done - they got greedy. Too late for a replacement.

We'll buy well in the summer and you'll look a complete arse.

Summer?

😛

I think the fact that we have a £50m income from the sale of Torres is entirely down to Judas.
So bar Andy Carroll, all our other targets, including Suarez, were always targets for this window and there was a willingness on the owners part to spend relatively big.
The fact that our net spend is minimal is solely down to having a traitor in out midst

edit: looks like I quiffed, sorry Sunny

We have a director of football who is apparantly hot shit.
We needed a LB, DM, LM, RM, CF and maybe a CB. You agree?
We also sold a winger, a CF a LB.

Given the months we had to assess our needs and find replacements we have come up with
Luis Suarez a forward.
Great. Fine. We needed that.
Torres walking out meant we needed another forward. Great we got one.

And thats where we are this window.
Weve spent 2m quid and are still short of a LB, DM, LM, RM as we were 4 months ago when Comolli came in.

Maybe in summer we invest massively and sort this mess out but here and now we still have Poulsen in CM, Jovanovic at LM, Kuyt at RM, Kelly at RB, Johnson at LB etc etc.
We havnt dont very well at all.

And it's January window. Considering that and we've been fucked over by Torres we've done extremely well. People have been like Torres and expect overnight miracles and throw a stroppy one because it's not happened.

I think we've done well CONSIDERING. You haven't. I'll leave it there

I am fairly confident that if i go back over threads I will find that your opinion would be that we had offered sufficient funds already to secure Adam, £8m sounds like plenty to me.
Are you advocating overspending on players as a sign of intent by the owners because that hasn't exactly worked out great in the past
If we had told Torres he had to wait till summer and lined up with him and Suarez up front id say we had done well.
If we had taken the Torres money and strengthened 2 of our worrying positions then id say we had done well.

It remains to be seen if we have even done OK.
