Liverpool have agreed £13m deal with Rubin Kazan for French midfielder Yann M’Villa. The Times journalist and ever reliable Tony Barrett announced the news on Twitter.

signing this lad and the ukrainian would be a big statement . It would really set us up for the rest of the season and be a big confidence boost. It may be worth releasing fees from the summer budget if that's possible.

But i get the feeling we're not prioritising this position . Gerrard is our "new" def. mid , we've lucas to come back and then henderson , allen and coutinho to take the other 2 positions. I'd be worried about fatigue , injuries as the season goes on but rodgers has never hinted this is a position he feels needs addressing for the moment.

More on M'Vila from David Maddock:
We are hearing some news from within Anfield, and it suggests that any deal for Yann M'Vila is unlikely.
Sources within the club suggest that dealing with his club Rubin Kazan is even more fiendishly complicated than Dnipro, and that would suggest talks won't even get off the ground.
Another reason why this deal is highly unlikely is more basic - the Frenchman is, shall we say a 'complex' character, and the feeling within the Anfield hierarchy is that he is too much trouble to land on their squad at such a crucial stage of the season. Described as a "loose cannon" by one of his previous managers, he is precisely the sort of player boss Brendan Rodgers is loathe to consider, given the atmosphere of togetherness he has managed to create within his diverse squad.
