The twiiterati are claiming Ayre is in Spain trying to do a deal for M'Vila.

I'll copy the link in a sec. Then Ross can run his background checks on the twitter ITK making the claim.

Our impending excitement hangs on Ross' detective skills.

It's bring reported by Dave Hendricks from TLW. Someone else can copy the tweets, I'm on my phone.

Oh where oh where is Mr Ayre ? Spain or Ukraine ? . Most likely he's at a ben sherman sale stocking up on shirts .

I think Dnipro and Ruben are both in Spain on a winter training break thing. I believe the twitter rumour is that Ayre is working on the Kono deal and Fallows is working on signing M'Villa.

One problem I have with the twitter thing is that people on twitter who post these rumours seem to have information that journalists, who are paid to find this stuff out, don't. Therefore I can't see the M'Villa thing being true without one of the broadsheets having a sniff of it.

For the 7 millionth time - we don't need a DM right now.

But anyway. Whatevs.

With Coutinho playing and working hard at the top of the three as well as he did against Everton, I'm inclined to agree. I'm much more interested in getting Konoplyanka.

I dont see how we could afford these players.
Combined they cost what? 35m?
We dont have that kind of money.

Heh. So you think stevie can put in that level of performance week in week out?

Sorry, it sounds like sacrilege after watching him do it in Tuesday but I can't see it myself.

And regardless, that means we're reliant on our 34 year old captain playing every game without injury for two months, as we have no back up at all now Lucas is injured.

I would say it's much less of a priority than most people seem to think. Buying a DM now will not "guarantee" us top-4 nor give us a decisive push towards the title. However, with Lucas currently out and Allen unfortunately being almost Borini-like in his injury-pronness, we are a bit thin in CM. A loan with an option to buy would be an ideal solution.

And in the summer we will need to buy an attack-minded CM who can compete with Henderson and Allen, someone like Rakitic or that Wijnaldum fellow.

Kazan are there at the minute for some reason apparently.

That reason is called "The Lying Rag".

And no I am not referring to an awful British tabloid, but indeed the actual SUN.

Reported fee for Konoplyanka is 16 mill.
Fee for M'Vila has been reported to 11 mill euros. Napoli had a loan bid with option to buy rejected earlier in the month and has moved on to other targets.

Was another lad who posted this last night aswell. Dont know if he'll pass Ross Twitter background check though.

Why don't we have the sort of money to sign these 2 players though?

It just not true, the club easily has the money, we are not Crystal Palace.

If we had Crystal Palace wage bill we WOULD be able to afford these two. As it is, I think a 30million outlay is highly unlikely, unless as has been posited elsewhere we know that a massive amount of money is coming in summer for a player sale or two.

Incidentally I think it highly unlikely that we will keep Suarez in summer even if we get top 4. Simply because the kind of offers that Real Madrid and PSG make are the kind of offers no club can refuse.
If Bale or Ronaldo money is offered for Suarez he will go, and I think those kind of offers are extremely likely this summer as he is simply the best player in the world right now.

I don't know Andy - I generally still want to believe he enjoys playing for the club, and that he has an attachment to the fans, the city and the loyalty the club showed him despite the crap he's pulled on and off the pitch. I'll remain naive in hope it's rewarded! 😉

Not sure we would sell but if he wants to go he will go, however with French tax at 75% and Spanish tax mooted to rise from 49% in the Madrid area up to 54% he won't necessarily be going for a pay rise now he's on big money here with his upgraded contract.

If Real offer upwards of 75m it won't be up to the player, the club will sell him, not without making enough noises to try to spin it like he forced the move like.
