Missed a Bullet

Rafa was a bit mental to consider signing Lucas Neil years after he injured Carra. Last headline known was he filed for bankruptcy.

Rafa had a weird history with left backs. Didn't we bit for Gabriel Heinze, who demand a transfer to LFC which went to court and the court favored Man U? The judge must have been a LFC fan.

Others noticed as well. At one point Martin Broughton, ex-chairman of LFC (the guy who led the fight to get Hicks and Gillett out of the club), was asked by Rafa for money to buy yet another LB, and your first sentence above is a pretty good summary of Broughton's reply. 😉

I wanted that bugger who ended up signing for a Chinese team quite a lot. Can't even remember his name now.

Before him i distinctly remember our obsession with wantin Joaquin from Valencia.

Ah. Fuck that. We wanted him 15 years ago when he was at Betis and he still scored in La Liga a few weeks ago for Betis. He would have been a legend here!!!

As I remember from back then - the final conclusion was that he had no end product even though he was always in that final third to cross.

Any players you have been keen for us to get and having missed out, you've since realised that we missed a bullet?

I'll start. There was a lot of whinging here that we didn't seem to be in for Sead Kolasinac since he was available on a free, and had just had an impressive season in the Bundesliga. It turns out that he is much better suited to playing wingback than FB in a back 4, and he has thus been in and out of a very unimpressive Arsenal defence. Of course, there's every chance Klopp could have made more of him than Wenger, but with Robertson now ensconced in our LB position, I'm very happy we missed out on him.

Who is your missed bullet?

I was angry at missing out on Kolasinac, but of course I'm quite happy now with Robertson. Still, I don't think it's a case of "missing a bullet," as Kolasinac is surely a lot better than he currently looks for the unbalanced and downtrodden Arsenal team. It's no surprise that he looked excellent in his first few games for them, building on his excellent Schalke form, but looked progressively worse the more he was "coached" by Wenger.

Surprised nobody mentioned Götze. Who knows, we might have not gotten Salah, had he agreed to come here... imagine that!

I think Mane was the second choice after Gotze

Simao! thank Jesus that plane had no fuel in it

Also Mkhitaryan.

Drogba, glad we got Cisse... (kidding)

Mkhitaryan, though I still believe he's much better than what he's shown so far

Alexis Sanchez

Sanchez would have been great for us, but watching him run his contract down and holding us to ransom would have been shite.
