I'm not sure I agree there.

Vidic isn't what he was. Pique's level has dropped over the last couple seasons. And Kompany, great player that he is, doesn't appear to quite be the model of consistency he was 12 months or so ago (unless someone who watches him more can tell me different).

Truth be told, there is probably a lack of world class defenders in the game right now.
