Anyone who wouldn't take Ruud is one daft thicko. He shits goals and always has done.

At his peak yes but 20 La Liga goals in the last 3 years and a truly disasterous injury record since he left the premiership would suggest that the returns for him are diminishing steadily as he gets older, in his day one of the finest finishers Ive seen but that was a while ago now

Mourinho has always been able to his no 1 targets while Rafa has not always been in a position to do that, makes a difference.

Clearly says in the post above not always.
By the way who did really buy Keane, was it Bentiez?, not sure myself.
Mourinho could bid effectively what he wanted for Essien, Carvalha and few others, but Benitez at the same time had to haggle over Alves, Portuguese winger (name I can't remember) etc

please god they arent talking out their arse.

I can't see for the life of me why going back to Argentina is a good move for him when he would earn a lot more in the premiership and get to test himself in another top league. I think he's just trying to get a better deal here. Is it true everton are sniffing around too?

Wonder what his nickname going to be if he turns out to be shit. Maxi pad?

another link....at least everyone knows we need a striker, let's hope Rafa knows too....
Three times in seventeen does not sound great though.......

Rafa Benitez has reportedly joined the race to sign Lyon striker Frederic Piquionne.

The Liverpool boss has been linked with a handful of strikers as the January transfer window threatens to spark into life, with Portsmouth's on loan striker rumoured to be on the radar of three Premier League clubs.

Reports in France also place Everton and Aston Villa in the race to sign the Frenchman, who has one international cap to his name.

It is Liverpool who are thought to have made contact with the French giants however, and the Reds are preparing to pounce for the forward who has an uncertain future ahead at Pompey.

Financial troubles at Fratton Park mean that Avram Grant might not be able to keep hold of the 31-year-old, who has scored three times in 17 appearances for the club since his summer season-long loan move.

Despite a relatively poor start to his career in England, recent goals against Chelsea and Liverpool have shot Piquionne into Premier League transfer contention.

Everton boss David Moyes is a known admirer, and is looking to add after striker Jo took a leave of absence at christmas. Martin O'Neill might be opening the door for the exit of a striker, with both Emile Heskey and John Carew linked with moves away from Villa Park, ironically to Liverpool.

The Anfield club have seen Ruud van Nistelrooy and Maxi Rodriguez linked with January moves, but Piquionne is the latest name in the frame for a move to Merseyside.

Whoohoo. Thanks Sunny, always good to hear that things are happening.

Piquionne is a good striker, and showed that in France. His performances in the Premiership have been meeh, although he has played for a shite team. His goal against us was quality though.
