come on Rafa, we need some kwality, ya basterd.

Couldn't be arsed reading the whole thread so disregard if someone's mentioned this, but he strikes me as very simular to Riera.
Not a disaster if we dont sign him if thats the case.

He is more of a goal threat than Riera i reckon. Hes not ideal because we need pace but hes not slow and hes a much better RM than Dirk.

Id take him in a heartbeat.

A. we need Riera back because he is a real left winger. B. Maxi is pacey but in creative spurts, he's also a goal threat and can create. He'd have to adapt but he's class.

oh ffs...i'll pay for his fcuking salary....

i can't believe the stumbling block to signing him are his wages...what. the. fcuk.

top 4 club my lardy arse....we don't deserve that tag anymore.

am sick of the two useless yanks destroying our club..

HAHAHAHA! I don't think he's that shit hot but tell you what, Rog, if you can find someone I fancy to help improve the team, I'll go in with you on the wages.

my sentiments exactly Skully, we seem to be heading to a very dark place, much worse than even I envisaged

Good old Moron Moores.
[/quote]

Yawn

It wasn’t Moores who spunked £9m on babel, £7m on Dossenna, £17m on Johnson, a similar amount on Aqualani, saddled us with Voronin, pissed off Alonso, thinks Dirk and Lucas should be ever presents and left us without striker back-up.

If Moores had sold us to DIC as everyone wanted, who knows we could be in even deeper shit given the state of the Dubai economy.
He did what he saw was the best thing at the time for him and the club, and not a lot of us were moaning about it then.

€2.5M is about £40k/month - not spectacular by EPL standards. The problem will be the new 50% tax rate the UK government will be introducing.

€2.5m a year salary is about 40 odd grand per week, isn't it?

Even taking into the differences between Spanish tax and English tax, it wouldn't make Maxi one of the highest paid players here, surely?

That, and the fact that Atletico wants to sell and we only want a loan.

Still, it's fucking shite when you can't afford the wages without selling a player, that really isn't a top team worthy.

You have to say, even tough Rafa is very unpopular these days, the two American cunts aren't making it easy.

I doubt that, that is probably what Lucas is on

Also, I'd be totally surprised if any club from South America could offer Maxi a salary close to what we could offer.

The Argentinian league is crippled financially, and there is no way in hell Boca can pay his wages.

I'm starting to really dislike Balague, the bearer of bad news, every time..

Who is responsible for researching the background of potential buyers of a famous football club?

The fans, the team manager or (wait for it) the current owner of the club?

I may be paraphrasing a little here.

Dat George seems like such a nice fella and 'e was dead nice to me bird as well. I 'aven't met Tom yet but George says 'e's a dead sound fella as well. I'm really made up like.

Fuck off.

Oh yes, and the one thing I forgot - and you saw the worst financial crisis since the great depression did you Wilko?

Liverpool had an international consultancy firm working on finding a buyer for long enough, yes because something like that would have been beyond the scope of Moores, and Parry and everyone else at the club.

Moores never made out he was the sharpest knife in the drawer, and admitted his shortcomings.
This is not about who sold the club to who, it is about the manager making fatal mistakes in the market, and yes, it is also about Gillet and Hicks being shortsighted on funds, and not trusting the manager, but in fairness given his more recent track record I can understand their reluctance. I am also staring to think that perhaps Parry should have been subject to a little less derision than he was, he at least seemed to be able to influence the yanks, Rafa obviously can't.

Thats nearly all pure tosh vlad.

People keep talking about Rafa's transfer mistakes and yes he made plenty, but no more than Maureen did at his time at Chelsea and no more than Ferguson has done in recent years at United. The big difference is that those clubs can absorb them and carry on regardless, whereas we can't.

Which part?

this is the exact type of signing we should have been making over the years, freeing up money we have spent on other mediocre players.

why do they never.. ever fucking transpire?
