Anyway, none of our defenders are going to look as good as they can be until their frazzled nerves are finally calmed by the knowledge there's a sound keeper behind them. Even the admirable Matip was going mental a couple of games ago when Karius sent him a hospital ball on the edge of his own area.

He's fantastic, very reminiscent of Sami in many respects but with alot more pace about him. Does anyone think Lovren is Klopp's longterm partner for him, or is he just an able player who's ok for now but will make way for someone else in the long run? (I think he's been very good for a while now, but I still have some minor reservations)

I hope not, he has definitely improved alongside Matip but he's not good enough, for such a big bloke he is poor in the air. It was noticeable that during the poor first half display against Utd Lovren had a lot of the ball and was very wasteful with his passing, which on the whole is shite. Hopefully Klopp has another under the radar signing in the pipeline.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to get rid of Lovren. After the improvement he's shown already, I want to see what Klopp can make of him given a good long run at it.
