Matip ooozing class..

@rurikbird has moved to the top of the list of posters whose player recommendations I lookout for.

He was for this signing from day one and I remember a line in a post he made when we were closing in on Matip, something alone the lines of:

"This is the sort of signing Bayern Munich make, not us".

Exactly, I still can't believe we got him on a free. It was possible only because of Klopp and his reputation in Germany.

I told ya about him. However, I've noticed that he's not playing with the same confidence he played with in Schalke, where he was tasked with starting the attacks from the back. Klopp has probably told him to be more cautious. He used to have a mistake or two in him.
Also, like I said here: http://sixcrazyminutes.com/index.php?threads/joel-matip.78208/page-8#post-1404436

A £20mill player for free.
because he does not need to start attacks from the back. If there is an obvious pass, he can. But we have enough class up front to create ample chances and score enough goals.

He's fantastic, very reminiscent of Sami in many respects but with alot more pace about him. Does anyone think Lovren is Klopp's longterm partner for him, or is he just an able player who's ok for now but will make way for someone else in the long run? (I think he's been very good for a while now, but I still have some minor reservations)

Well he's doing quite well atm.
I wouldn't mind Niklas Sule or Jonathan Tah though.

Still a very talented defender. Really haven't seen much Bundesliga football this season.
He is certainly highly rated.
I think it was reported that Sule knocked us back during the summer as well so you may have to set your sights elsewhere.

If we knock out Spurs from top 4 this season, I'd really like to nick Vertonghen from them. I think he would be a perfect partner for Matip. So far I'm happy with Lovren though.

Finish top 4 with this brand of football and I think we will attract a lot of players.
Win the league and we will have our pick with the money in the game at the moment

Yeah, he's looked a lovely footballer thus far.

I'm always in favour of defenders who look like they're under very little pressure, even when they are. He's adapted well, there's no fucking histrionics, and he's prepared to come forward with the ball.

Wonderful defender, but he's also a whopping thundercunt. (and that's not just because he's a Spurs player)

He's 29 already. He'd be worth a look if he doesn't sign a new contract with Spurs, but otherwise, no. Great player, though.

You'd never guess who Lovren's idol was:

Once he made his reintegration successful, his football talent flourished. He eventually made it to the first team of Dinamo Zagreb, where he played in central defence alongside his hero, the former Liverpool player Igor Biscan. "He was my idol, I have great memories of playing with him," recalls Lovren in smooth English. But he was not so star-struck that he took his idol's advice when, in 2009, Chelsea tried to buy him. "He told me: 'You have to go to the Premier League, you will love it!" says Lovren, who instead joined Lyon.

Must have been impressed by his cock

I felt a bit sorry for him TBH. In his proper position, namely CM, he looked the biz to begin with. GH then decided to try and turn him into a CB and that was never his position.

On current form, @rurikbird is the Matip of recommendations on these boards. Bear in mind, he also wanted to resign Milan Baros on a freebie

I did? Shit :shame:

I still kind of like Baros, he looked classy when he first arrived. Really don't understand why at some point he just stopped scoring...

Remember his lamabada with the corner flags - he kept heading there with the ball, during the game!

Naah you didn't suggest it, I was just messin' around!
