Mascherano to sign a new contract this week?

Yes

Rafa's very flexible with his formations, because he knows formations are there to accommodate your players and not vice-versa.

True, I was initially doubtful he'd give up the comfort blanket of two holding players, but I guess last year his plan was to move SG back into CM and use Barry neither of who are really DMs, so maybe it's not as far fetched as I was thinking it would be.

no point starting a new thread really - I hate mouthy agents using the press to get a move, and I hate stories with quotes from people with direct involvement cos it means it might be true  :'(

Agent: Mascherano tired of life in England
22.07.09 | Andrew Slevison

The agent of Liverpool’s Javier Mascherano has revealed his client is tired of life in England.

Agent Walter Tamer says the Argentine would love to set up in Spain and with Barcelona showing of plenty of interest, there could be an ‘extraordinary’ deal done.

"Barcelona is the easiest deal to set up as Javier wants to go to Spain. He is tired of life in England,” Tamer said.

"His wife has not been given a permanent visa. She has to go through an odyssey each time she wants to go.

"Liverpool refuse to sell, this can be overcome with an extraordinary offer."

Fucking hell, what a nightmare it'd be if lost BOTH xabi and Mascherano, at the end of the day they are both tied down to contracts, so I suppose it'd take a phenomenal offer to lever the second away if the other left..

What a bowl of dicks though, leaving after the season just gone and the potential the coming season has!

shiiiiiiiit we'll keep one of them though, it would be madness not to

if these two donkeys would stick it out one more year they might have a championship medal, I hope thats what Rafa is telling them

Maschers agent must be on of the biggest cunt in the history of football.

Rafa: We won't sell him.

Tamer: I'm in Barcelona and we've agreed a 5 year deal.

Rafa: Mascher won't leave, he has a contract and we won't sell him.

Tamer: Javier is tired of England, if an extraordinary bid comes in it can be resolved and he would love to move to Spain.

Rafa: Really?? Is that what I said?

FUCK OFF YOU SLIMEY CUNT OF AN AGENT!!

not on really if his wife isn't getting a proper visa.

i wonder what an extraordinary offer looks like - £50 million maybe.

If Alonso leaves then no amount of money should be enough. And vice versa.
It would be a fucking disaster to lose both our midfielders 3 weeks before the season starts.
This best be cunt.

Am I the only one drooling over the prospect of a Lucas and Spearing-pairing in central midfield for the Season to come?

Don't forget Plessis.

It's about time Rafa gave the kids a chance.

*cringes even more*

Does anyone else just hate watching Plessis play football?

All this waiting is fucking annoying me.
I wish they'd just sort it out, for once and for all.
We don't want to be in a position where we need to find a replacement in the last couple of weeks in August.

I'd hate to have to bed in two new central midfielder players, god help me if both Alonso and Masher went I would be tempted to try to resign Momo purely to have a proven player.

Good one.

This is the final straw for me. Tired of life in England. We saved your life in England.

I loved mascherano.... Now i can't stand the slimey shit. He forgets where he was till we pulled him out the shit. Show some fucking loyalty. People say his agent this agent that, but i'm sorry Mascherano could put this to bed once for all. Come out and say you want to leave or stay. If Mascheranos isn't saying the things his agent is saying then he should fire him for lying.

He may well be tired of England but as far as I'm aware Liverpool haven't received a bid for him.

It's ok folks. Liverpool isn't part of England anyway. Panic over.

masch owes us more than alonso, cannot complain of his treatment by rafa like alonso could do yet it's alonso i have more respect for - moments such as these shows how rare a commodity it really is.

now masch if u want to leave fuck off £50 million - get on the blower to your agent and get him to go see barcelona and tell them

Ha!

oh ye the other thing, his wife having visa troubles. Doesn't masch have an italian passport, thus meaning she is the spouse of an EA national. Easy as shit to get a visa.

Masher was an established international who would've joined Juve or another top team had we not come in for him. We helped him establish himself in Europe and get past a rather awkward time, but let's not pretend he owes us his career.
