Mascherano to sign a new contract this week?

He refused to answer any questions after the game today. I think he knows he won't be sold.

His agent needs shooting.

Masher was an established international who would've joined Juve or another top team had we not come in for him. We helped him establish himself in Europe and get past a rather awkward time, but let's not pretend he owes us his career.

we shouldn't have bought him in the first place, he couldn't even push his way past haden mullins.

You're on a loop, aren't you? Admit it.

But he chose to play for us, when chosing to play for team like Liverpool he needed to understand that there are certain things that come with playing for the badge and that includes loyalty, what it doesn't included is whoring your services via your agent to other teams. I don't think many teams would have taken the risk we took with him. He was sitting rotting on the bench of West Ham Benitez took him in and showed alot of confidence in him right away and gave hime the opportunity to play football again.

He may not owe us his career i agree, but he certainly owes more than 2 bloody years.

I doubt that. He was obviously world class long before West Ham bought him, and was young enough to turn it around.

Loyalty isn't something that is owed, it is something freely given by the person in question.

Pffft, you think an Argentinian and his agent hold the same values about our club as you and your 'realfan' ways do?

"He was sitting rotting on the bench of West Ham Benitez took him in" - Often have to pay 18.5M for strays do you?

He's perfectly entitled to go wherever he pleases. I don't see very many Liverpool supporters up in arms over the "loyalty" of the players we sign.

None of it really matters anyway, if we don't want to sell him then he stays. Simple really.
I don't care if he gets frustrated, we can't afford to lose both Xabi and Mascher.

I'd like to break his agents legs though.

To be honest, I didn't think either Alonso or Mascherano would finish their careers at LFC. But I didn't expect them to go in the same summer either.
Masch's timing is worse for me, I think he should show a bit more loyalty for mine.

I wonder about when Mascherano's agent actually made those remarks because it seems pretty clear that Barca don't have the money for him given the deal they've done for Ibrawhatever.

I wonder what 'odyssey' his Mrs goes through every time she leaves the country? This 'odyssey' couldn't be filling in a visa form and queueing in the Non-EU line, could it?

Surely in these most heinous of times where most commoners have either swine or avian flu, WAGS should be allowed special dispensation to flit unmolested from one country to another, via dedicated airport terminals of course, in order to undertake their numerous vitally important shopping expeditions? I mean, fancy having to queue with the ordinaries?

Mascher won't be going anywhere this summer. Only Barca were linked with him and I get the feeling they were only using him to negotiate Toure's wage demands down a bit. They'd probably haved 'liked' to have Mascherano if they could get him for 18-20m, but by no means was he ever the marquee signing they were looking for nor were they ever going to break the bank, Madrid-style, for him.
I suspect Alonso will leave and Mascher will sign an improved 4year contract before the summer is out.

Although tellingly it was only a 1 year extension! So he's off next year then >🙁
