Tbh it sounds like his dad wants to make sure that his son is going to a club where he will get playing time rather than just stuck in the reserves for the next few years. Can't blame him for that. At least he's not just a money grabbing cunt and is actually concerned for his son.

Have we actually signed this lad?? Read a few a bits and pieces earlier suggesting the move is in doubt.

Depends on what quotes you want to focus on. The first set of quotes seem to focus on getting more money. The second set of quotes focuses on performances of Serbian young talents in the premier league and it is hard to disagree with that.

"He became champion of the world, is on track to win the title with the red-whites, it is logical that his price per year will get even bigger year on year.

“But many people are in a hurry to collect the transfer. I know that the coach Miodrag Bozovic respects my child. Leave the kid alone!”

But the player’s father added: “Someone at the club is in a hurry to sell Marko. They have to be patient. If Red Star win the title, Marko will be worth more than he is today.

“There are far better deals than Liverpool’s, and clubs will wait until the summer. Stuttgart eventually withdrew their offer and will return in May. Liverpool will (in the end) offer more money, just let’s clinch the title with Red Star.

“For Marko there is pressure in the dressing room, because some players are convinced their payments depend exclusively on transfer sales.”

Grujic’s father is particularly concerned that other highly-rated Serbian players have been snapped up by Premier League clubs only to flop - including Liverpool’s Lazar Markovic, now on loan at Fenerbahce in Turkey.

He went on: “None of our younger (Serbian) players survived in the Premier League,” he added.
“Bojan Djordjic, Milos Veljkovic, Adem Ljajic, Zoran Tosic, Lazar Markovic, Danilo Pantic… Do you need me to continue to list them? None of them had the opportunity to prove themselves.

“The second is the story with (Branislav) Ivanovic and (Nemanja) Vidic. They came as experienced players.

“I know he has the quality to be able to play in England , but it’s not league for him now."

Not true. The full report said his son would be worth much more by next Summer ! Seems he thinks he's being under-valued.

Oh dear - I quiffed. Sorry Peekay.

He sounds reasonable, actually. Looking out for his son's best interests, as he should.

Does look like this will happen.

I'm sure Lazar put in a good word for us........ Hahaha.

Over the past Week I've actually convinced myself that Lazar is exactly what we need and that he will become a beast under Klopp..

That's what I reckon tbh

Too late @keniget.. Lazar is the chosen one.
You watch, he will get flogged to fucking lyon for £5m in the summer now I've said that..

On a related note can anyone think of anyone that went from dross to ace over night?

Gary bale, any others?

Jamie Vardy. Decent enough player, but who saw THAT coming?

Yeah, nobody. I saw him terrorise United last season, and was impressed. But he scored about 4 goals in total. He seemed like a Bellamy, but maybe even a worse finisher.

I might be wrong, but I think Woy actually started banging his drum earlier than most

Well, even a broken clock, etc. Think Vardy's hot streak will last beyond this season?

Read that apparently Zenit and CSKA are both set to offer more than we have. Seems like we'll miss out on this thanks to his dad.

Closer to home, Moreno and Lovren recently, Henderson a few seasons back. Most of them just goes to shit and stay shit if I'm being honest.

Would anyone really be that bothered if we didn't get him? We need players ready to go in the team right NOW. Not more possible players of the future.

I would be, the kid was class in the World Cup, he's an exciting prospect and for that price you can't really go wrong.

Another Serb we should all be over is the U20 World Cup winner Predrag Rajković. He is the keeper of Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel.
