I noticed we did a lot more long passing than I expected in those last two games, so it could be Rodgers is using that more as the technical ability of the players he is working with is good enough to retain possession doing so more often?

Nuri Şahin is close to completing a move to Premiership, Tottenham and Liverpool are involved in talks with the Turkish international however, Arsenal still lead the race to sign the Real Madrid midfielder.

Şahin had initially expressed desire to stick with the Galactico's and assistant coach Aitor Karanka had hinted that he may be given more playing time.

However, after being used sparingly as a replacement left-back during Real's pre-season US tour he has reconsidered his options.

German journalist Raphael Honigstein told ESPN today, "He's [Şahin] got one problem, Luka Modric, the deal is all but done however, both clubs are pushing for Şahin to be included in the deal.

"He's made them both aware that he's not interested in a move to Spurs, he's quite categorical, so they are quite out of the picture as far as he's concerned.

"He's got three offers one of them is Arsenal the other is Liverpool, his preference is for Champions League football however, he's not 100% against going to another club if Arsenal for some reason don't come through.

"So he's a little bit stuck, however, I've been told and can quote here a solution for him will be found next week and I think it will still be the Premier League" he said.

This coincides with a recent statement made by Şahin's agent Reza Fazeli who said, "There is interest from many clubs, let's just wait and see."

Mourinho has given Şahin the green light to make the move, recently saying, "I want to be honest and Şahin is living in this grey zone because the market is open.

"If the possibility arises for him to go to another place it would be better for him to leave and to be able to have more minutes on the pitch."

I can't see the point personally, we don't need a central midfielder for a year, if we were to buy him and develop him with the idea that he, Allen and Lucas would be our central midfield three for years to come.

He'll go to arsenal. No way would he pick us over arsenal. I think we only showed interest as backup to Allen. Now we have him i don't see how he would fit in the team.

He's a lovely lovely footballer. We can always do with those kind of footballers, regardless of how many players we have in a position. As it is, we have a shortage of class players.

Assuming Giroud and Podolski can play at a high level, yes. But I really remain to be convinced by Podolski (I've never really seen enough of Giroud to comment). I'm hoping Cazorla struggles with the premier league, but considering Silva's transition, no chance.
