Marca: Liverpool join the race for Sahin

He'll go to arsenal. No way would he pick us over arsenal. I think we only showed interest as backup to Allen. Now we have him i don't see how he would fit in the team.

How do you know that? Perhaps he realizes he has a far better chance of playing for us than them? Perhaps he'll want to go to a club that has less competition for spots after his last year at Madrid where he played three n' a half minutes?

As for the second sentence - that's debatable. Perhaps we are actively seeking a player who can replace Gerrard for 20-30 games? Rodgers isn't a fool - he realizes the chances of Gerrard playing 40 games this year are as high of us signing Neymar this year (he's signing after the World Cup in '14).

Assuming Giroud and Podolski can play at a high level, yes. But I really remain to be convinced by Podolski (I've never really seen enough of Giroud to comment). I'm hoping Cazorla struggles with the premier league, but considering Silva's transition, no chance.
Cazorla and Silva are two different players. Silva is more comfortable playing between the lines and Cazorla is more of a winger.

I don't think that's correct. They're pretty similar players, position wise.

i would much rather have Sahin in the squad than Charlie Adam. Anyone who ever saw him for Dortmund would be similarly minded.

He's classy.

According to our least accurate Spanish journalist, Xabi Alonso is sweet talking him for us, i've said it once and i'll say it again, I love Xabi.

Liverpool Brendan Rodgers has decided that the shortest path to victory is passing through many countries. The Chelsea B exentrenador, Reading, Watford and Swansea came to Liverpool with a clear philosophy and inexperienced, but has been released into the ring without shyness. What the ring is not a cheap imitation: the mirror is Barcelona, the national team, the Spanish. Pepe Reina is playing ball this season more than in all the Dalglish era. If you want more tracks look around, the center of the field that aims Rodgers: Joe Allen (Swansea's new signing), Lucas Leiva and Nuri Sahin, all shorter and stumps.

Sahin said no to the opportunity to be part of the transfer of Modric and now take weeks hearing from Xabi Alonso mouth of the benefits of a special club where he could play regularly. Apparently, Xabi work is paying off and Sahin seems convinced. A year at Anfield will give you the confidence (and rhythm) of scarce. Ian Ayre, executive director of the English club, is in Spain because he and Rodgers believes it Sahin (and perhaps Tello) is more than possible.

I'm still unsure where he'd fit in with Lucas, Gerrard and Allen, yet alone Henderson, Shelvey and Adam

Allen/Lucas will play the dominant amount of games, if healthy.
Gerrard will play 30-40 games if healthy, leaving 20-30 games for Sahin/Henderson/Shelvey.
Sahin can play in the front 3 if needed - he's good enough.
Adam is probably gone (Sorry Doc)

Exactly, that's where i'd expect, the promising developing youngster breaking into the team position, question is, if we're only loaning him, whats the point. If we were signing this guy I could understand it, but on loan it just seems, pointless.

Well the loan wouldn't be pointless if he's better than what we have. I don't know a right lot about him but I'm guessing that's a given.

I really hate the idea of loaning players.
It isnt part of any grand plan and i dont see how it helps.
If Sahin only plays 20 games for us he wont want to sign even if we could afford him so next summer we are back to square one.
If Madrid dont want him then sign him. Otherwise keep what we have now and spend the money we have on players who will play every game when fit.

Completely agree. I could understand if it was an older player who would come in and do a job for us, like that yank for Everton, but loaning a kid? It's pointless.

I don't really see the problem with loaning players. If he only helps us for one season and then leaves, we're still better off than without the loan. What's the issue with that?

Loaning kids...? This guy was instrumental for Dortmunds way to the top of Bundesliga with a nice style of football. Since he left he has a La Liga title to his name. If such players are an option for loan, loan them. if we don't he will strengthen one of the rivals for a CL spot.

I'm happy loaning players if it means they fill a gap so we can loan out some of our better kids/ressies to get them some competitive football.

It's curious that we're pursuing another central midfielder, but I do think we need another

Because you build a style of play and an awareness of each other and players build relationships and have understandings on the pitch and sometimes it takes months to do that. Then you gel and then he goes and it starts again. We need to get our shit together and keep it together.
Uniteds team for the last few seasons has barely changed, their best 11, keeper excluded is Evra 6 yr, Ferdinand 8yr, Vidic 5 yr, Rafael 3yr, Scholes 20yr, Carrick 6yr, Valencia 3yr, Nani 5yr, Giggs 1000yr, Rooney 6yr they know each other inside out and yes they can take out giggs and put in Hernandez or Nani for young or whatever but its the stability that has been key for them for absolutely years and years.
We only have Reina, Lucas, Agger, Gerrard, Skrtel and Johnson (first team) who have been at our club for over 18 months. And loaning players doesnt help that in my opinion.

We certainly have enough quantity, it is the quality we lack. We have ignored the engine room for too many seasons now, expecting substandard players win us games.

Tottenham loaned Adebayor last season and he ALMOST helped them get champions league. Now they arent in the champions league and dont have Adebayor and have to start again. If they has signed him they would be in a position now to strengthen on what they already have, as is they have no forwards to speak of after letting Crouch, Keane and the russian whose name escapes me go and bringing in a loan player to take their place.
