Amantino Mancini is set for Liverpool move
29/04/2008

Liverpool target Amantino Mancini could move to Anfield for a cut-price £4million this summer.

The Brazilian winger is set to turn down a new deal at Roma - and could buy out the remaining year of his contract under new FIFA rules.

Roma would then be owed £4m in compensation but that would be a big loss for a player valued at about £10m.

Reds boss Rafael Benitez saw a bid for Mancini, 27, rebuffed by Roma last summer but he is likely to have more luck this time.

"I am coming out of an unlucky spell and I need to feel important again," said Mancini. "I won't speak about my contract until the end of the season."

Probably nothing in it, he doesn't even mention us. Anyone fancy him?

The media are always going on about these potential cut-price deals, yet how often do they actually come to anything?

It's bollocky speculation.

And I want better than Mancini.

The last time his name was mentioned, almost everyone said he was nearing his sell-by date and that his performances have deteriorated the last couple of seasons, especially this season.

I used to rate him but not anymore. He's becoming increasingly slow and lethargic, devoid of ideas and lazy to beat his marker. He somehow reminds me of the Kewell of recent years.

4M however, I'll take him. Anything more....no thanks.

yup, that's the bottom line really ... he's not a bad player so to risk 4 million on someone who may be very good is not that bad in today's day and age.

I thought we were all sick of iffy bargains? Either he's good enough or he isn't. We shouldn't buy players just because they're in a half-price clearance sale.

Surely if we have to buy out his contract for him (and we would - he's not going to do that himself) he would cost us a lot more than £4m...?
The remainder of his wages on his contract amounts to 4m. Thus 4m being he cost. Don't know about his agent costs.

I would bite Romas arm off for Mancini fir that price.

You guys who are unsure of him, believe me he would be a superb steel for that money.

Former AS Roma winger Mancini has been jailed for two years and eight months after being found guilty of sexual assault by a Milan judge, Italy's ANSA news agency reported on Monday.

The ex-Brazil international, now playing back home with Atletico Mineiro, was accused of assaulting a young Brazilian woman last year while playing for AC Milan on loan from city rivals Inter Milan.

Media reports said Mancini, who enjoyed his best spell in Italy with Roma between 2003 and 2008, met the woman at a party.

😱

Binny, I can understand when you do it for a thread that's a few weeks old, but to bump a thread that's nearly 4 years old is a bit OTT. Surely it took more effort to find the thread than posting it in a new one? You can start a new thread once in a while, mate.

I personally like "blast from the past" threads.

I think what Binny did was good, he showed we had an interest in the player from 08, and then what happened 3 years later with the sex assault.

So its a case of, Oh thank the Gods we didn't get him

Whatever happened Milner anyway? He was a good poster.
He was.
It is odd looking back on old threads and see long departed posters.
I do wonder what happens to them all too.

We should have a 6CM hall of fame, for posters that are gone and we'd like to see back (although on second thoughts it will probably just turn into an argument over whether banned posters should eb allowed back or not)

I agree, I'm pretty new to this forum and it's good to get an insight onto what was being discussed.

We get linked with a new player everyday, though.

I don't mind him digging up old threads, but when they're 4 years old and not relevant to the story he's posting (thanks for the story by the way, Binny) it's a bit unnecessary.

I think Binny's a great poster. But I've seen him post in a thread that's a year or two old and often over ten pages and I might not have read the whole thread. So for me to find the new, relevant information I could have to go through every page in the thread.

Thankfully this wasn't a long thread, but I did go through all 3 pages to see what had been posted today.

Lol, change your forum settings n00b. Is all on one page for me. I agree that bumping old threads that are 10 pages long might be unnecessary, but short 1 page ones like this is fine and often quite amusing.

I've thought about it, and I don't want to be the twat who tells you not to.

Just do whatever you want, mate! It doesn't even bother me that much.

This thread has had me off in so many ways.
Firstly I thought it was about something Roberto Mancini had said after Sunday's match. Then I put my cursor over the topic and saw we were after a player called 'Mancini' which I assumed was Roberto's son, then when I realised it was that lad from Roma, I clicked on it and got halfway through the first post before I realised it was started in 2008.
I've had a nightmare there.
