Manchester City v Liverpool Match Thread

Lovren had one of the worst performances ever. That final ball to van Dijk just summed him up. Brainless.

We have to sell him. Can watch him play anymore and cant fucking stomach another shite interview were he runs his gob off.

The midfield was a worry as soon as we saw it but Lovren was auditioning for Everton tonight. Terrible performance.

You can't blame the front three when none of the midfield were looking to get forward and there was a gaping hole between them and the forwards.

Yup, Lovren cannot pass the ball into the midfield ... so that slowed our play down.
Our midfield lacked a player who could carry the ball and release quickly (Gini can carry but struggles to make quick passes) ...
Klopp made this 'easier' for City.
We really need to get Keita up and running - these are the kind of games where we could use a player like him.

This is like our 4-1 win against the mancs in 09.

Great result for us, felt like it turned the tide in the league race, ultimately meant fuck all.

Welcome to our (ex) world you Manc cunts.
Ditto in 2009 when we beat the Mancs 1-4* at OT, they still went on to the title. We will too.

* was it 1-4 ?

Fa cup could be a timely distraction, regroup. Play reserves

Disagree about the timely distraction. We should play mostly reserves but if we go out the media spin on our collapse will be in full force. Would rather we just get on with the league and beating the teams on the docket.

We ended their unbeaten run in Jan last year, they still went on to win title. They've just ended out unbeaten run and we are still top. May time?

In the last mines Robbo waiting for the pass, and everyone waiting in the box. Then lovren plays a shit straight ball

Attacking he was iffy at times, but defensively he was fantastic
Yup. Which is his job. Plus he got a great assist.
TAA was so unimpressive with his defending and most of his passes today (apart from the one to Robertson of course). I really like him and he can be sublime at times, but he infuriated me today.

I'm actually not as disappointed as I should be to lose this game. They were good, but they were two good goals, and if Lovren wasn't playing we may not have conceeded them. We were ok, and could possibly have scored another. Four points ahead after 21 games, and no new major injuries, with a few players to come back. If we get win the next few games we'll be in with a great shout.

Aren't you just repeating what I said in different words?

I agree
Fuck me. Well it seems I did, probably I phrased it better 😉

I am absolutely seething with Klopp, hence brain is definitely in overdrive and not paying the slightest attention to what's going on around me. I'm surprised I haven't collided with more posters.

1 No he didn't.
2. For Christ's sake, for the last fucking time: this is 2019, the medieval world has gone, this is a secular culture., AND NOTHING HE SAYS HAS ANY EMPIRICAL IMPACT ON ANYTHING!!!!!! Jeez, just grow up!

OK, this is tough to take. There were so many points the gave could have turned in our favor: Mane hitting the post, the insane clearance off the line (the ball was 1cm and 12mm from being counted as goal), Kompany's potential red card, our chances in the scramble in the 2nd half – but in the end it was the difficult finishes by Aguero and Sane that proved to be the difference. I have to say Fernandinho has been INCREDIBLE in this game – possibly the best I've ever seen him play. It's not often an opposition team DM makes you gush, but this was just something to behold – absolutely world-class midfield performance, often single-handedly repelling our counter-attacks and controlling the tempo to perfection. Anything less from him and the game and the result would have been very different.

And yeah, Lovren fucked up many times in this game, including being culpable for both goals and it was all for everyone to see, but can we please not rush into a stampede to crucify him? We win and lose as a team. I might just be the biggest culprit as I either forgot to pack my lucky underwear on my trip – or it just mysteriously disappeared, either way it was one bad omen among many. In sum, we're not going to defend a 10 point lead starting from January and celebrate a title in March; it's going to be a close race all the way. Let's do this!

THAT - was a hell of match with two teams going toe to toe. First league defeat annoying. I'm gutted but it's not the end of the world. If, buts and maybe's but if that Mane goals in.... Well that would have been fun. Fucking tight margins. Chill out lads. It was always going to happen against someone and it was against the champs at their manor. I'm arsed but not fucking losing my marbles. 4 points clear innit. 🙂+🙁=😎 x

We were close. My only worry is we tried and failed this approach 4 times this season. Hold tight, go out wide, play only out through the middle if we're on the break.

What let us down was Milner not being fit, Lovren being not world class (it happens) and Sane being their best, if inconsistent, player against us on multiple occasions.

In the end, if you told me we'd be 4 points ahead of them and top after we played them I'd laugh. Oh well, shit happens. Let's hope they get cocky

They were the better side, but not that much better.
Fernandinho was immense for them, and our midfield was not good enough tonight. I don't thing that these three should play together for us.
Gini was good until he got tired, and I really don't think he's a LW.
Fabinho should have started with Gini and Hendo.
Lovren had a nightmare. He was to blame for Aguero's goal, and had a few more blunders. I can't wait for Gomez to come back.

In the end, infootball like in life you need luck. We were unlucky tonight, as if Mane's ball or the ball that hit Ederson had gone in, it would have been a different ball game.

Anyway, we made them sweat for that win. We have to chin up and continue this unbelievable season. We can do it.

That's not a compliment, they always get ludicrously overpraised. I don't watch TV these days. I don't watch other games. I don't get remotely wrapped up in the hype. I barely care. Aside from our games. Then I see the other teams I've read about who are so incredibly wonderfully gloriously good and I think, 'Is that it???' I thought it tonight. Nothing they did scared me remotely. It was pretty even. They'll lose again.
I wish I could give you 100 likes for this post coz i agree with everything 100%.

Agreed about Fernandinho. He was outstanding. For some reason he cant get booked though. Never.

You said it better.

Name the time & place, and I'll happily fuck you. With or without lube?

Agree with everything except not crucifying Lovren ... he deserves every bit of vitriol I can muster for that utterly shite performance. At least until I wake up tomorrow.

It's all about the reaction now. That's all that matters.

We have to be mentally strong and continue to put pressure on City, by winning and winning and winning. I'm convinced that their defence is still creaky and away from home they are more likely to lose than us.

We just have to continue focusing on us. We need to show championship mettle. They have to drop points before us next.

Klopp: "I really like Vincent Kompany but how on Earth is that not a red card? He is last man and he goes in. If he hits Mo more he is out for the season."

We KNOW those three are not good enough (together), that's why Klopp went out and bought Keita and Fabinho ... then doesn't play them. It's on him.

Send the players on a retreat with a lovely health spa so they come back against Brighton feeling all pampered and special.

Can we keep those lovely white bath robes? They are so soft! Of course you can!

Fuck that. You are all playing on Monday now dickheads. Concentrate on winning the FA Cup UNTIL YOU RESTORE YOUR GODDAMN 7 POINT LEAD... NO DAYS OFF, UNTIL THEN, I WORK YOU LIKE DOGS!

The next league game is away to a very good Brighton side. We’ll have to be well up for that.
