Was it only to me the pen looked a little... teatrical?

He got studs in the knee, i'd imagine thats quite painful.

Mancini conceded it was a penalty. Thats enough for me.

Yeah, as theatrical as Yaya Toure is "hype".

No it was definitely a pen - He clearly caught him on the knee. Other thoughts on the game I thought Bellemy was pretty immense. I know he didn't have many clear chances but his movement and pressing of their defence was great to watch. I didn't think AC was that bad. He does look a tad unfit though. He just needs a goal or two to get his confidence up but he just doesn't look like getting them. It's now becoming quite embarrassing I have to say.

What the hell was going on in the end? The formation was shot to pieces and no one knew what they were doing. Still all in 0-1 is a great result. Funny about Gerrards 'Tunnel Bust Up' with Mancini as well. 😛

Peter Noone *does* fall like that.

I've seen him.

Is this some Scando- rivalry nonsense ?

We bossed that game until the 22nd minute. Then Jay got his injury, we had to reshuffle and we never really got our shape back. That said it should have been game over when the pen went in.

Although I'm not a fan of hold what we have, it worked and our defence does look very good. Perhaps if he'd started Gerrard last week and we'd got ahead the result would have been different?

For me the starting line up and tactics were good, we just didn't react at all well to the reshuffle. But for all their possession in the second half they couldn't put it in and break us down. So that's a positive right there.

Agger and Skrtel look very good at the moment.

Why was there no reports of the Laser at Gerrard as he was standing ready to take the pen?
[/quote]

I saw that too.

That is brilliant indeed!

The captain is back!

I never understood why people didn't rate him as a captain. He is inspirational. Screaming at a player is not the only requirement to be a captain.

Let's not get too revisionist here. His play is inspirational, and the boy has visibly and audibly become a man in the last two or three years, but he did have his drawbacks as a skipper before, leaving ALL the encouragement and direction to Carra while doing plenty of screaming at teammates for not reading his passes or giving him the ball when he wanted it. It was all a bit too much about him as an individual and, understandable though that might have been in some ways given the number of times he had to rescue us, it really wasn't ideal in a leader.

he completely stunned off mancini there. didn't think he had it in him. he's deffo changed after being out for so long.

He has shown his frustrations on the pitch at other players. I don't mind that really. These are men, they should be able to take the criticism when they have fucked up. Carra does the screaming at players bit as well, but somehow people don't grudge him for that.

For me, Gerrard has never let his head drop on the pitch, set very high expectations for his teammates, and lead from the front by setting the standards at a high level.......He didn't always say the "Captain's word" kind of things in the media before, but he has grown immensely in that regard. We couldn't have had a better Captain, and he always had my support as the best man for the job...i'm not revising any thing.

People mostly don't get the hump at Carra (there have been exceptions, e.g.Arbeloa) because it's always been clear that with him the priority is what will benefit the team. At times with Gerrard in earlier years there was clearly a feeling among some players that his priority was his own play rather than that of the team as a whole, a bit like Boycott's in cricket years before. I think that was fully justified at the time.

Yeah Mancini's riposte was shite. A garbled load of gibberish. Well played Gerrardo. I like the idea of Stevie waving an imaginary card too. Works on several levels.
