XI vs. Sunderland:

Hart; Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Kolarov; De Jong, Barry; A Johnson, Yaya Toure, Nasri; Dzeko.

Balotelli not even on the bench. Richards, Clichy, Milner, Silva, Aguero all not starting.
So, he's keeping his big guns on the bench hoping to have them fresh for us. Having said that he has an impressive deep squad.
Would be interesting if Sunderland show up and cause Citeh some problems...

Perhaps Utd's defeat yesterday played a part in Mancini's decision. Had they won, I'm not sure Mancini would've risk dropping points in this fixture. Hopefully Sunderland will give them a decent fight.

Someone needs to explain how playing Johnson, Nasri, Dzeko demonstrates a willingness to risk dropping points. Ridiculous squad.

I have felt that since we played them, they have lost bit of swagger.
They lost to Chelsea, narrowly beat Arsenal (whereas previously they had been scoring for fun), and played to a tepid draw at WBA.
Interesting to see how Sunderland play them today (they probably feel less pressure on this game due to United's loss - I think Mancini probably changed his team because of it).
I think we can beat them. It has been stated previously that we have only deserved to lose one game this season - and deserved to win several others that we drew. We are a strong outfit and I think they will be a little scared of us tbh.

Another thing. I really couldn't give a shit if United won the league again. I want us to go out every game and beat the fuck out of who we are playing. If that helps United then so be it. I honestly have stopped caring.

Not saying that it does or they will, but comparing it to leaving out Balotelli, Silva, Aguero - at the same time, who accounts for 72% of their league goals. Dzeko, for instance, hasn't scored in the league since Nov.

5 points dropped from 6. No goals scored in 2 consecutive matches.

Before today, WBA were the only other team besides Liverpool (in Apr) to stop Man City from scoring in the Premier League in 2011. Leaving out the trio was what I was referring to in terms of risk dropping points, albeit him realizing and substituting in Aguero and Silva early in the 2nd half.

"@RichieMcCormack: Man City STILL haven't scored a single goal in 2012. Worrying form"

Regardless how good your squad is, leaving out your very best players is risking dropping points.

No playing for a draw Tues all out for victory for me. Whats the top 6 fixtures like against each other in the final half of the season?

Nice to see my reverse psychology was very effective!

Nasri was very poor wasn't he?

Surprised if Gerrard played 90 mins after so little recent time on the field. I'd like to see him at right midfield to both utilise his wonderful deliveries and prolong his career at the same time.

Reina

Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique

Downing Gerrard Spearing Bellamy

Hendo

Suarez

1-0 win Suarez

id start carroll and gerrard, he needs to start scoring, if he doesnt with th balls that stevies throwin about then he's not good enough and he never will be, i mean i could have scored some of those chances the other night

Agree.

I'd only start Carroll if Gerrard does though.

City fail to score for the 2nd game running while Liverpool have only conceded 2 (both own goals) in last 5 games.

Is that Xabi ?

What does "okay then/challenge accepted" mean within the context of whatever that is ?

How do you find this stuff ? Oh, I forgot, you're Binny.

Oh I just copied the entire post. More of a tongue in cheek with the use of that Xabi (no big deal look) pic, regarding the tough and repeated fixtures.

So, a win here puts us 8 points of the top, level on points for 4th place.

Does a win signal us actually being in the title race? Given the recent results in this league I think it might. Spurs are actual title contenders as well. Strange times.....
Whatever happens tomorrow, we are definitely NOT in a title race!
eh

The problem we have is that we will throw away points in shit games. We KNOW we will as we have for years.
Man United have got Spurs and Arsenal and Chelsea in their next 5 games.
City have us then Spurs in their next three.
Spurs have City then us in a few weeks time
etc
We have Stoke, Bolton and Wolves after the City game. Sadly I think after the Wolves game we will STILL be thinking IF ONLY we could have beat those three....

This season would be a cake walk for any team with even a semblance of consistency to get top 4. We may well beat City (I think we will lose) but we WONT then beat Bolton, Stoke and WOlves and that is the crux of our problem.

We are going to be there or there abouts for 4th and if we could put 5 or 6 wins together we could easily still challenge for the title.
But we wont.
We havnt won more than two on the bounce all season.....fuck me thats pathetic isnt it?

It is!

Until it's mathematically impossible.

This is a grammatically hideous post, but it's worth seeing what some of the Citeh fans think about Gerrard:

I think I read on the forum somewhere somebody said gerrards back. I'm delighted because he's muck what has that lad done in the last 3 years he is a has been fact!

Hmn. We'll see.

Mhahahahahahaha. Mwahahahahahaha.

Silly silly people.

This man is a better player than any who has pulled on their shirt, in his prime & now.

I can only hope a Liverpool player sees this on the net & sticks it on the dressing room wall.

Indeed.

Just off the top of my head, I recall his single-handed seek and destroy mission of, oooh, who was it again ?

Oh yes, Napoli.........
