Luis Suarez pwned by the Lizards and is Staying, and has said sorry to BR and teammates

"The whole world knows what history Arsenal have," Suarez told FourFourTwo.
"They are one of the best teams in Europe, some great players have played there and I was very excited to join. When I was 25-years-old I used to play as them on PlayStation but I never imagined I would play there."

If Suarez had come out and said he wanted CL footy in the first place instead of the myriad of excuses he has Id have been disappointed but could understand. I can't see us competing for the top four slots any time soon. I think this transfer window is going to be a massive disappointment.

They're edited quotes of what he said about Liverpool right?

I know it may sound petty, but last season we had a LOT of bad decisions go against us, which inevitably cost us a lot of points. With some better 'luck' we'd have easily been challenging for the top 4 slots.

I'm really feeling quite positive about the coming season.

: )

Did we have a lot of decisions go against us? I honestly can't remember apart from Suarez' disallowed goal at Goodison and that was countered by Everton's wrongly disallowed goal in the return fixture. I think we lost important points because of individual errors more than bad decisions.

Edinson Cavani, who was on Confederations Cup duty this summer with Suarez, said: ‘We have been speaking a lot and, while I can’t tell you everything, I can tell you that he is desperate to start playing Champions League football.

‘Liverpool already know that, though, because he has told them.

‘I think if he thought Liverpool would qualify for Champions League football next season he would stay but, with the other top teams in England adding players, he doesn't think Liverpool have the resources to break into the Champions League spots.

‘I have said before one of the most complete strikers in the world needs to be playing at the top level and I hope Liverpool understand that.

‘He doesn't want to leave on bad terms because he respects the club and fans, but he needs to achieve his dreams in the game.’

So Luis pretty much thinks our new signings are shit.

Yep, that's how I saw it.

The fact there was so may individual, varied, errors bothers me, because they're so much harder to eradicate than a recurring error.

As much as anything I can't believe how unnecessarily stupidly Suarez has handled all this. It's no good demanding CL football if no club is willing to offer it wants to sign you, other than Arsenal, who never really even threaten to win it and are far from guaranteed qualification next year (or even this year). It'd be best for everyone if he knuckled down for another year and we guaranteed to accept, say, £40m for him next year from a foreign club. That might give us an outside shot at CL football anyway, and him the time to try repairing some of the awful damage he's done to his reputation (IMO the only plausible reason that so many big-spending clubs could have avoided him this summer) with a good season in the league and the World Cup to follow.

Of course, it's pretty much too late for that now, because he's acted like such a total scumbag.

For a player who got himself banned twice and thus helped wreck two seasons in succession, it's pretty cheeky to then complain the club is falling short of his ambitions. To also imply that buying the likes of Coutinho and Sturridge and Aspas and Alberto is a sign the club still aren't aiming to achieve what he wants to achieve is just bloody offensive.

It's a bit like Rooney moaning that Utd aren't signing any top players then taking the huff when they sign Van Persie who then becomes first choice.

Sometimes I think footballers are a bit thick.

I agree, there were a few individual errors which cost us dearly also.

Only goes up to week 30/31 so the Everton disallowed goal isn't accounted for...

I'd agree if I believed any of the reasons we hear about. It's obvious from the various excuses so far that it's all bullshit.

I think this is just another case of advisers and agents who stand to gain from a big money move doing whatever they can to convince a simpleton why it's the right thing for him to do.

Mickey Owen finally says summat nice

Michael Owen has revealed that he would be 'surprised' if Luis Suarez were to move to Arsenal from Liverpool.

Suarez has been the subject of a transfer tussle over the summer, with Arsenal launching two bids - the latest of £40,000,001 - and seeing both being rejected.

The Uruguay international has made it clear that he wants to leave Liverpool, with reports suggesting he wants to speak to Arsenal, but his current club are standing firm and are not willing to sell.

And former Liverpool star Owen feels Suarez would be better off going to La Liga if his seemingly inevitable exit from Merseyside materialises.

"Arsenal are a fabulous club and have got a great heritage, but Liverpool are as big - if not bigger," Owen said on BBC's Sportsweek.

"I'd be very surprised if he were to move to Arsenal. Madrid or Barcelona would make more sense. I'm struggling to understand why he would leave and stay in England with Liverpool being the stature they are."

In the latest collection of our favourite quotes of the week, Carl Froch misses out on a tussle with Godzilla, Sir Dave Brailsford says 'Told you so', and Petr Cech turns a blind eye to Chelsea's past.

The prospect of playing in the Champions League remains one of the reasons why Suarez wants to depart Liverpool, but Owen believes the major two clubs in Spain would stand a better chance of winning the competition than Arsenal.

"From Suarez's point of view you can understand him if he wants to reach the absolute pinnacle of the game - that's playing in the Champions League. Liverpool obviously are not in that at the moment," Owen added.

"Truthfully, can you really see Arsenal winning the Champions League next season or going into the later stages? Unless they buy a good few players then I can't."

Very much this.

If I was on our board I'd offer him a one off five million quid bonus for the year to put up and shut up, and tell him he can go if we don't get in the CL next season.

I wouldn't worry about the precedent or the fact that you're rewarding his actions. Great players need special terms and we really need him if we're going to succeed next season.

I like it!
