Luis Suarez pwned by the Lizards and is Staying, and has said sorry to BR and teammates

Don't kid yourself. The meeting was so that the club can subsequently fabricate what was agreed during it. A very handy tactic in future disputes against the player, Gustavo Poyet learned that the hard way and Suarez is going to as well. He will be turned into a bitch and be relieved of a small mountain of cash before he goes.

If it was Dantes you would never turn up to that meeting without covert recording equipment, a set of pre-prepared notes to read from which have been emailed to everybody in advance, and a friend pretending to take notes which you can then email to everyone long before the silly club secretary has gotten round to even writing the date at the top of her notepad.

You've gone soft.

I preferred the old Dantes who planned the ruin of others through universal law. I hope after this thing with the university you will be back.

If I've gone soft it's so that when the university hit me, I can pull a George Zimmerman

Guardian reporting Arsenal about to launch a third bid. Also, Madrid indicated to Suarez that they're interested.

Liverpool scorn Arsenal’s hopes of signing Luis Suárez

Arsenal’s hopes of signing Luis Suárez have taken a considerable blow after Liverpool informed the North London club that they have no intention of selling their star player in any circumstances to a team they consider rivals.

Liverpool rejected Arsenal’s £40,000,001 bid for the Uruguay forward this week and, contrary to reports, have refused the player permission to hold talks with his suitors over personal terms before a potential move.

Arsenal had lodged their second offer of the summer at that specific amount in the belief it would trigger a release clause in the striker’s contract. That is not Liverpool’s interpretation, and Suárez must now decide whether to push for a move by handing in a formal transfer request.

Comments from Brendan Rodgers, the Liverpool manager, that he values Suárez in the same range as his international team-mate, Edinson Cavani, who left Napoli this month for Paris Saint-Germain in a move worth £55 million, had been taken in some quarters as a sign that Liverpool were prepared to negotiate the forward’s sale, though for substantially more than the fee offered.

Liverpool, though, have made it clear to Arsenal in private that they do not intend to weaken their own side at the same time as strengthening a direct rival for the Barclays Premier League’s fourth Champions League slot.

There remains the possibility that the Anfield hierarchy could yet have a change of heart — or receive an offer they feel is too good to refuse — but such a prospect is distant as things stand. Liverpool have been deeply unimpressed by Arsenal’s approach to negotiations, culminating in that eye-catching bid, and are unhappy with the player’s representatives for attempting to engineer a move.

Suárez has been unequivocal in his statements expressing his desire to leave Anfield, though his original explanation, that he was being hounded out by the British media, seems hollow, given his willingness to move to the Emirates Stadium.

His preference remains a move to Real Madrid, though the signals sent to his representatives by the Spanish club in recent weeks have been mixed. Suárez has been informed that their interest is not yet at an end, though no bid has materialised. Florentino Pérez, the club’s president, is thought to be undecided as to whether to buy a replacement for Gonzalo Higuaín, now with Napoli, or whether to give youth-team product Álvaro Morata his chance.

• Suárez was not granted permission to speak to Arsenal officials

David Hytner and Andy Hunter
The Guardian, Friday 26 July 2013 22.00 BST

Arsenal are preparing to raise their offer once again for the Liverpool striker Luis Suárez as they seek to capitalise on perceived tensions between the player and his employer.

Suárez held talks over his future with the Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and the chief executive Ian Ayre on Thursday. The club's refusal to discuss how the meeting went has been interpreted by Arsenal as a positive sign for them. If Suárez had indicated any willingness to stay at Anfield, then Liverpool would have been expected to publicise it.

Arsenal's strategy when they made their second offer for Suárez of one pound over £40m on Tuesday was to put pressure on a clause in the Uruguayan's contract, which they were led to believe would permit him to open negotiations with them and, effectively, force the player's hand. They would love to see him agitate for the move, although a written transfer request may be too much for them to hope for.

Liverpool have refused to confirm whether Suárez asked to speak to Arsenal in the talks with Rodgers and Ayre since the £40,000,001 offer was received and rejected. However, they remain adamant that the disputed clause in Suárez's contract does not allow him to meet or open negotiations with Arsenal now that a bid of more than £40m has been made.

Liverpool have not granted Suárez permission to speak to Arsenal officials. The clause in the contract he signed last August, they insist, entitles Suárez to be informed of any bid over £40m and for Liverpool to enter into discussions over his transfer should they wish to do so.

Arsenal, whose opening offer for Suárez was worth £30m plus £5m in add-ons, are now ready to go higher, as they seek what would be a stunning coup. They have never previously paid more than £15m for a player. They are aware, though, that Liverpool will not countenance Suárez's sale unless there is a bid of more than £50m. Suárez scored 30 goals in Rodgers' debut season in charge and Liverpool's hopes of returning to the Champions League rest on him.

Real Madrid continue to lurk in the background, and they have indicated to Suárez's representatives that they have an interest in signing him. Their bank balance has been boosted by the £32m that they received from Napoli for the striker Gonzalo Higuaín, who was previously a target for Arsenal.

Arsenal, though, believe that they are in the driving seat for Suárez as Real are preoccupied by their pursuit of the Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale. Tottenham maintain that Bale is not for sale. Suárez is expected to play some part in Liverpool's friendly against Thailand in Bangkok on Sunday.

The end result of all this drama and brinksmanship is looking more likely to be that Suarez, Arsenal and the Bayern Munichs managers brother are universally declared arrogant cunts and bitey cunt will line up against Sunderland in September.
Well done to LFC if that's the case!

wish they'd check who arsenal's record signing is. its not arshavin at 15m, thats for sure. Cazorla and Reyes cost more

Obviously it's hard to know who's telling the truth and what's really happening behind closed doors but from what I can interpret, Liverpool and especially Rodgers are handling this expertly.
Makes a nice change.

Yeah but if his goals fire us into the CL we'll have much more than 20 m back and the lustre to attract a top replacement.

Where does this myth that he will give everything on the pitch if he stays come from? All this talk of "he couldnt give less that 110% hes such a winner" is delusional bullshit

This is a guy who had so much commitment to winning he decided to sue his first club in Holland, the ones who brought him to Europe, for having the audacity to turn down a derisory bid from Ajax after Suarez decided that he wanted out. After his case was thrown out Ajax had to double their offer and the club were happy to see the back of him.

So he was happy to drag his club to court in order to fuck them over to force through a move that was clearly way below his market value to satisfy his own ambition. Anybody who thinks he will be a productive member of the squad should we keep him is clearly nuts, his concept of loyalty makes Tevez look like a saint

He's a nobhead and clearly from the history you've mentioned he has no scruples about trying manufacture a transfer for himself but I don't know if we can be so sure that he won't be productive. He might be a negative in the dressing room but I think he might like playing football too much to not just get on with it until the next transfer window.

Many have said it now but Modric dried his eyes and got on with it, if he's still our player come September 3rd I think he will too, until January at least. I can't be arsed with him any more though and I think he's going, just please make it a move abroad.

He is 27 now - a couple more years and his value will go down significantly. So we've quite possibly had the best part of his career. Also he's at the stage where one more major incident in England may well be his last. Its a major risk for Arsenal, and there comes a stage when that risk is excessive. I'd let him go for 45m. Looking at Cavani and Bale actual and mooted fees, Suarez is worth more - but he's a risk, and at 45m I'd sell, even to Arsenal.

But we want a champions league place, there are 3 teams beyond us at the moment in terms of performance and spending, then another two closer but still ahead of us fighting for the fourth spot. I can't think of anything worse than selling our best player to the fourth place side as it would most likely help them cement the only cl spot we could have a chance at.

Arsenal - Nein :hitler:

We play Arsenal November 2. Stuart Downing pastes himself all over with some Uruguayan delicacy. Suarez can't resist - career in England over. Arsenal season down the pipes. Its not that complicated.

The reason I brought up the episode with Groningen is that it shows that when Suarez decides whats best for him he doesnt give two fucks about anybody else and hes prepared to do whatever it takes to make that happen, that much is blatantly clear at this point. So I think its misguided at best to expect him to give his all if the transfer doesnt happen, I expect he will escalate his campaign.

There is no way Uruguay will drop him so I dont think the 'this is a world cup year' threat means much to him. I fully expect him to be gone by transfer deadline day because the club are painfully aware of the sort of individual they are dealing with and I believe all Rodgers Henry and Ayre are just posturing for the best possible fee while praying Madrid come in for him and remove Arsenal from the equation.

Whats baffling is that while this arrogant prick tries to force our hand by leaking his contract details and threatening legal action, all the while conveniently forgetting his stated intention to get away from the English FA/media, we have fans lining up to say hes going to give us 100% next year and fire us into 4th at his productive best. To paraphrase John Henry, what the fuck are they smoking?

The difference with Groningen is that Ajax DID put in an increased bid and Grogningen took it.

There's absolutely no reason why he won't play well.
Once he knows we won't sell, then If he wants CL football it's in his best interest to play well.

Tbh I don't think there are any players who give two fs about their club other than it's in their self interest to do so, so I'm not sure what your point is.

What's wrong with leaking contract details btw? Isn't that the whole point of having a clause like that

IMHO, we could do with more arrogant pricks in our team who would do whatever it takes to make things happen. That's what we've been missing the past ten years.

it had nothing to do with the price, he just didn't want to come to us. Can't blame him when he had Dortmund as an option.

Eriksen could be a good option if we play him further forward like we did with gerrard behind torres. That way we don't need to worry about him being a bit lightweight.

I'm definitely in the "not selling to any english club regardless of the price" camp. Just think it would be a HUGE mistake which we would definitely regret.

From everything I've read it's exactly the opposite. LFC was his first choice all along, but we balked at the price at the last moment.

Can you show us the source that's claiming he's threatening legal action against us? By the way he lost his court case in Holland. So if history is that important and likely to repeat itself, he'll lose his court case in england and then we'll sell him for 80m and 2 pounds. Sounds good to me.

I read we matched their bid but his agent didn't want to talk to us.

Yeah, Rodgers confirmed that in a recent interview:
"There has been lots of players linked but the fact is we really only had one (top target) and unfortunately we didn't get the chance to speak to that player before he moved from Shakhtar.

"We had spoken to Shakhtar, we had got permission to speak to him but unfortunately I didn't get the chance to sit down in front of him. It was already in place with Dortmund so that was disappointing.

"I always feel that if I can get in front of the player, I can sell the club and what our project is here.
