Luis Suarez pwned by the Lizards and is Staying, and has said sorry to BR and teammates

Great - lets take a young player from Real, so that when he becomes a star, he can run to the press and tell them his heart has always been in Madrid and he yearns for a return.

That's what I suspect will happen. But that's the risk you have to take when signing any Spanish/Latin star - they will always want to go to Real Or Barca when those show any interest. See Xabi, Arbeloa, Mascherano and now Suarez. Even Man Utd. at their prime could not keep Ronaldo.

I'm still hoping he stays as he's world class. just one more year. Get us in the top 4 and then you can leave.

To me he's better than cavani. He offers more in his all round game.

That would depend on the clauses in the deal, if we put a ridiculous $75m buy out clause in there then they wouldnt come near him. No team would pay that for a player they gave away it would be too embarassing

There is no guarantee we would make top 4 if we kept him. He would still leave, with a year less on his contract and the likelihood is we would get a lower fee and he wont be as productive next year as he clearly already has had his head turned

There's no guarantee, but we'd have a better chance with him than without him. Don't see why the fee would be any less when next year he would have 3 years left on his contract so it won't affect it at all. Also disagree about his productivity as well. He only knows how to play one way at thats all out. I think he'll still give his all on the pitch and bang in 30 goals. He's never said anything bad about us or the club just that he wants to leave. Real Madrid haven't even made a bid and it looks like they won't be either if they get cavani and Bale.

We have never seen what his attitude is like when his hearts not in it so I'm not necessarily buying the whole 'he will give his all' thing, Ive heard people say the same thing about Tevez and Rooney in the past and its obvious that sometimes even the most competitive players lose interest

As for whether or not we stand a better chance on getting 4th without him, that depends entirely on how we spend the money, if we got 4/5 players of Coutinho or Sturridge quality I think we would be much better off, if we used the money for another Downing and Carroll spree then yeah we would be screwed.

Better the devil you know than the devil you don't. We have no idea how the money would be spent. We do know that suarez will definitely give us 20 goals a season. We do because he hates to lose, that much is obvious. Sometimes it overspills a bit and he does stupid things. He'll still give his all IMO. He doesn't know how to play any other way. I'm sure he's been wanting to move for awhile now and it hasn't affected him. Wasn't just at the end of the season and he just decided 'im off'.

If he's not got a minimum release clause in his contract then he can fuck right off, he's on a long term contract with us. Or we can do the spurs/gareth monkey bale routine, and say that other teams can have him if they want to give 60-70-80mill. He's worth as much as monkey bale, if not more, as he's a better player.

Bale is younger, can play more positions, doesn't have Suarez long history of discipline problems and is seen as a marketable 'star' in a way Suarez never will be. You may think Suarez is better but its very unlikely he is worth more

Although, unlike Suarez, Bale has a track record of injuries that ought to appear fairly worrying to someone preparing to shell out £80m on him.

Hes started more games than Suarez over the past 3 years so his injuries cant have been that significant

Who cares? You know that's a common perception, and that has an impact.

Well I don't particularly care about Bale's injury record as such.
I do think it is incorrect to label him injury prone though or having a 'track record of injuries' as you put it.

Reports today suggesting we want an official transfer request from Suarez if he wants out

Liverpool have no intention of acceding to Suárez’s demand to leave the club for Real Madrid unless he forces the issue by submitting a transfer request, thereby forfeiting his right to a substantial loyalty bonus in excess of £1 million.

"All I can say is that it is every young boy's dream when they grow up in Uruguay to one day achieve the reality of getting their loyalty bonus. Liverpool is in my heart and they must know this."

June 15: Luis Suarez insists he's not thinking about a potential move to Real Madrid, but just Uruguay and the Confederations Cup. "I've come to the Confederations Cup with my mind on Uruguay and not thinking about how it can help me with a transfer. My only goal is to win the trophy."

June 16: Luis Suarez comments on a potential move to Real Madrid. "First I have a contract with the club, but if one day I want to sign (for another club), Liverpool will hear the offer, as it does with other players," Suarez told Marca. "Every player aspires (to be the best) and if you ask a child of eight years they would say one day they would go to Real Madrid or Barcelona."

Rosco, can you point us to the source for those quotes?
I think you're making too much of those interviews and their dates. I'd really like to see you backing the dates and contents.

Why ?

Do you not believe he wants to go ?

I do. Sadly. And I think that most people here also believe so (but what I believe and what I don't is off topic right now).
I've made my position clear more than one, and I think that's enough from me.

I just can't see the point of you keeping posting the same quotes various times (well, slightly different phrasing each time - probably due to translation/interpretation etc), and in each time with a reference to another media outlet and another date.
I think your message is clear.
You seem to be enjoying your "victory": "I've been telling you (along with 2 others) all the time that this Suarez boy is an ungrateful CUNT and will leave ASAP forgetting all the support we, fans (well, not me personally) have been giving him.

Can you point us to the sources for those quotes? (that's what most people do normally when quoting)

Like the Spanish clubs, we should insert ridiculous activation clauses in our young and new players contracts with an eye on the future in the event of them wanting to leave.

I have no problem selling Suarez despite him being world class. Liverpool hold all the aces and he will go on our terms only. Maximise his value and let his selling price reflect his world class status. If any team does not want to meet our valuation, force him to stay. After all, he has a contract with us. Simple as that.

Suarez is fairly low on Real's list of priorities as it seems for now that Cavani is their main target. Apparently Cavani told his family members that real is his preferred destination.

Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has set his sights on Luis Suarez as a replacement for Edinson Cavani, writes John Cross.

New Napoli coach Benitez - still a hero at the Anfield giants after leading the club to European Cup glory in 2005 - sees controversial Kop striker Suarez as the perfect replacement for hot property Cavani.

Benitez is resigned to losing Cavani, wanted by Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea, but is expected to receive around £50million for the Uruguayan - and that will give him the spending power to go for Suarez, his national-team strike-partner.

However, Suarez appears to have set his sights on a move to Real Madrid himself, after making it clear he is in the mood to quit Liverpool this summer.

50 million + Insigne please!

This is really lazy journalism. No way would Suarez consider going to Napoli, yet that journalist needs to fill up his newspaper so he writes it.
Words are cheap...

He said on a discussion board on the internet.

Suarez is a hot topic and sells papers. Real haven't bid and probably won't. Juventus don't have that kind of funds. Suarez will remain a Liverpool player for the foreseable future.

Why is that?
Because Cavani is apparently their no.1 target along with Bale. With Ronaldo probably staying and Cavani already confirming to his family that Real is his preferred destination, there'll be no place for Suarez there. Unless Bale stays at Spurs.
