Did any of us ignore it? Not many. Lots of us excused it to some extent, but not ignored it. Yet again, Rory Smith wildly exaggerates in order to make himself seem really mature and wise and prudent.

Tbh I don't know or care much about Rory Smith, I was just name checking him so as not to imply it was solely my point, but I think most of us were happy to ignore his history when he signed.

And I think the fact he was so fervently supported through his various troubles here and there has been so much wailing about him wanting to leave suggests that, yes, actually, most people did just bury their heads from the truth.

Btw I'm not saying we shouldn't have signed him, just that we (I) were silly to have expected anything better.

We have one of the large commercial firms dealing with our contracts, they will have done hundreds/thousands of employment contracts. And enough football player deals to understand all the wrinkles.

Without having seen the clause, i would be amazed if we've left ourselves vulnerable without realising it.

I'd be less amazed if we had agreed straight up to a 40m release clause and are now muddying the waters. But the actions of ten club don't suggest that's the case.

Brendan Rodgers is continuing to plan for a new season with Suarez while reminding the forward of the unstinting support shown by the supporters despite his travails at Anfield.

"He’s very much a Liverpool player and over the course of the next couple of weeks we’ve got to get him up to speed," said the Liverpool manager.
