I want him to stay - am a pretty shallow fan and I do want the best players playing for us.
this is key imo ... hopefully, we're making sure this doesn't happen in the near future with our other star players.
This is precisely the point. The longer it's gone on, the less sense it makes to sell. They seem to have concentrated everything on this.
Who knows, we might be able to make it through the summer without them getting a striker in, and keeping Suarez. I really think we'd have a chance of 4th then.

interesting, see your point, but a 50m player who can win the majority of those 32 odd games might be more effective than two 20-25m players for 38 games.

The player John Henry was alluding to in his discussion about ‘loyalty to the uniform’ was Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia.
Late last month, the highly-regarded infielder signed a multi-million dollar contract extension to stay with the Fenway Park ballclub until at least 2021.
Discussing the $110m deal, 29-year-old Pedroia told the media all he wanted to do was ensure he stayed with the Red Sox.
He said: “It’s not official or anything, but this is my home.
“I love being here, I love my teammates, love this city. If it becomes that, I’ll be pretty excited. That’s really important. The Red Sox drafted me. A lot of teams passed on me because of my size and stuff like that. It’s pretty important. That’s why I want to make sure I work as hard as I can to make sure that they made the right choice in drafting me and me being here my whole career.”
Pedroia was in the fourth year of a six-year contract that included an $11 million team option for 2015. His new deal will begin with the 2014 season.
“I just want to make sure I’m playing my last game here. That’s important,” he said.
“It’s the only thing I know. I love putting on the Red Sox uniform every day. Every game is important to me and my teammates. It’s pretty special.“I live and die by this team. It’s important to me to be here my whole time.”
