Lucas the Turkey

Comments like that mean nothing though. I like the new Rodgers approach re not talking about transfers.
Less is good with that man.

What's the point in loaning him out? His wages can't be very high. The saving is minimal. Better to have the option.

I would say he simply wants to play more football than he is likely to play at Liverpool.
It sounds like Lucas wants the transfer more than Liverpool.

Almost every manager will say that a player will stay even if the club decided to sell him and the deal is 99% done. I don't care what a manager say anymore. If it is in the best interest for the team then they will lie.

BR said pre game he was his best dm.

Strange comments.

We were trying to introduce a side without the DM role. Because Hendo got injured he had to play a true DM today and you have to be a class A moron not to acknowledge that Lucas is our best DM.

Very interesting to see Can further up the pitch. He will be great for us in the coming years.

Fair point. He should but necessarily may not get his fair share of games. Milner and Henderson on the same pitch need someone different in there because they are so similar. He is currently better than Can in that role. With 4 competitions and injuries he should get games but I believe Rodgers would be stubbornly trying to fit too many into the team to find room for Lucas. He still has Henderson, Sturridge and Lallana to come back in.

He won't be sold.

Which is great news, cos he was outstanding for the hour on the pitch tonight. No surprise to one or two of us though.

He was lucky not to give away a pen with one of his trademark "tackles", though.

I don't think anyone thought it was a penalty at first glance though. No one from Arsenal even bothered to appeal.

Sure on the 5th replay you could see it, but the referee doesn't get replays, and at the time he, like I did, probably thought that fucking limping ponce Giroud had ripped his tights or something.

It looked like a wave goodbye to the away end as he came off. I was a bit choked to be honest.

Asked if he expects Lucas to be Liverpool player next Tuesday, BR says: Yes, he's a big part of what we want to do here.

He was good in the first half but not in the 2nd.
He can do a job for us but shouldnt start and he's so slow its painful.

That's my feeling too. He will definitely get plenty of games though, and it is up to BR to make him feel valued. Games like last night show just what we'd be losing if Wonderman goes.

It's going to be a very hard day for folks now that he's played well again.
Then they can fuck off. You can't be pissed off that a Liverpool player did well just cos it doesn't fit your agenda.

I used to be made up when Diouf scored & I fucking hated him. I used to slag Cisse off constantly but was made up he ended up scoring so many despite being eternally offside. Continually moaned about Garcia going missing & giving the ball away stupidly but loved the wee fucker scoring a wonder goal at the most opportune moment.

You get the picture.

...and why it's important we fetch someone in to do that job if he does. I don't have high hopes of that happening, but fingers crossed.

Fully agree, but I'm not sure Rodgers does. My guess is that he wants players in there who will cover the hard yards as just another part of their job rather than the main part of it, and that he'll try and get existing squad members to do so. I don't think either gives us the best chance of progressing.

Who exactly are these people? I don't think anyone particularly dislikes Lucas do they? I know obviously you're his biggest fan, bffs, pen pals and all that jazz, but don't make it out like you're the only person on the site who doesn't loathe him. Most of the forum likes him, just quite a few think he could be improved upon.

He played really well for an hour Hansern. Remember it was his first match of the season. People are quite happy to give other players time to get their fitness levels up.

We would be mad to let him go if we don't have a replacement lined up.

I thought he was good in the first half but not up to it in the 2nd half. That could obviously be a result of how the game changed in favor of Arsenal. I know it was his first game so its understandable that he tired out there.
I've been saying all along that if we shouldn't sell him without bringing in an upgrade.
We'd be mad to let him go without bringing someone in, and at this point you'd wonder if its possible to get an upgrade so late in the window.

Better to keep both him and Sakho.
And nobody in their right frame of mind would not want him to play well when he's picked.
