I'll be happy if we sign a good holding midfielder to replace him. If he persists with Allen there I'll be most unhappy.
midweek presser looks like he's happy with can there as he can 'play any position'.
Well I'd prefer him to Allen. He's not looked disciplined enough to walk straight in there imo, bit he's relatively young & him hope he proves me wrong.
We won't be signing a defensive mid. Rodgers doesn't believe in defending, I've told you all this.
That would explain the two good defenders he's just added to the back line then.

If this was his last game for us he went off on a good note. We'll played by him
Aye Rodgers showed he has cojones to match his teeth there.
It'd be strange after showing a willingness to protect the backline in a big game and for it to work so well, to decide we don't need one. Surely we must have something lined up.
We better replace him - he's shown how important he is. I think it's best we keep him unless we've got someone lined up. It's not worth the risk to the season.
I think it was that Lucas was knackered, which he clearly was. They'd just put Walcott on, so he was probably concerned about him running at us and Lucas giving away fouls or getting left for dead. He also got the ovation he deserved if it is his last game.
So we'll either keep him, lose and replace him or just lose him. The latter would be crazy and surely won't happen. Given the choice between the other two, I would rather keep him than bring somebody in now...irrespective of who it might be. If we're going to improve this position, let's do it early in a summer window.
I guess necessity & a gamble.
Let's face it, some players get on the pitch for the first team & look like they were born to play there. I didn't see that but then it was a horrible time & game to be blooded in.
