Besiktas are in talks with Liverpool over the signing of Lucas Leiva on a season-long loan deal, according to Sky Sources.
Lucas is Liverpool's longest-serving player but has fallen out of favour at Anfield and failed to make either of Brendan Rodgers' starting line-ups for their opening two Premier League wins over Stoke and Bournemouth.
The Turkish side say they are confident of signing the Brazilian midfielder, who has two years remaining on his current contract, within the next two days.

Wtf

I don't see the benefit of a loan deal.

Unless we're confident in some younger guys being capable of stepping up when needed

Really stupid if we do this. We don't have another player in the squad who can do what he does.

A loan deal doesnt make sense and selling Lucas without signing a replacement would be crazy.

Don't worry, Tribalfootball has run 2 "stories" in 2 days about that Illeramandiasldkfjajf fellow from Madrid being sold to us.

If we were to get a deal to sell that made sense financially I'm not again him leaving. To loan him out is just stupid.

The Twittertwatters seem to think he's close to a move and that he will be replaced.
If true lets just hope we upgrade...

I'm against selling him as I still think he can do a job for us when required but the idea of loaning him out is just madness. Even if we replace him that means another new player coming into a squad with already too many new faces that will take time to settle. We might be better off next febraury or march but by then it could be another wasted season. I could understand maybe if the midfield had played great in both games so far but we've looked far from a well oiled machine up to now.
Pissed off that every season is a fucking transitional one especially when half the players we buy each summer don't hardly get a chance before their fucked off and more new players are bought.

I'm not his biggest fan, but I agree that with so many new faces coming in already, it's a risk to let him go unless someone of top quality comes in to replace him.

Yeah selling your only defensive midfielder - in fact not even selling him, LOANING him - is mental. I'd like to think we'll get a replacement, but I honestly don't think he believes in defensive midfielders. After all, he doesn't seem to like defensive defenders either.

Be careful, Hal. Thats 2 or 3 negative posts in quick succession. The forum tyrants will be out to get you soon. Can't you just be blindly optimistic and believe that Rodgers will learn everything about being a good manager in a few months despite being quite a poor one for 3 years?

Not bothered. Hes far from the worst player in our squad by hes mediocre at best. As most have said this only makes sense if his replacement is already lined up. Cant see Can or any of the young players like Chivirella/Rossiter doing that job on a full time basis.

So we will get rid off another experienced player and after a few months Rodgers will say that we lack experience.

We've seen no evidence what so ever that Rodgers is interesting in having a ball winning holding player. So if he's going, I don't think it'll cross Rodgers mind that he needs replacing, he'll probably think we've got loads of cm's so we'll be alright. That or he'll go out and buy another no.10 or something.
I don't think Rodgers thinks there are games for us where you might have to defend for long periods and break up play, he's convinced himself we're Barcelona, have a team full of superstars, have 75% possession every game and the other team doesn't cross the halfway line. In that situation I guess there is no point having a DM in your team.

He's a fecking ill-informed, impetuous, incoherent idiot. Hang on, he agrees with me. He's a shrewd, insightful, intelligent observer.
