Did the TV just say six wins from twenty two games?
Yeah. Apparently Megson's record in his last 20 games for Bolton was better than Rafa's last 20 for Liverpool. Laughable really.
We cannot talk about 22 games because we cannot change the result now. We have to focus on the next game against spurs and hopefully we can improve

Bloke on the match stream said that rumours are that Torres and Gerrard are out for the rest of the season.
Anyone heard this or the rumours?
Don't believe the hype..

Well I feel a bit better after that game in looking forward. We were far from good but the effort was certainly there; the players, to a man, tried real hard and that sort of attitude will get you points in this league.

Will be interesting to see what level Spurs are playing at; if they're playing genuinely good football then they'll slaughter us on today's showing but if they're just a notch or two below that then this kind of attitude and effort could really knock them over.

Me too.

At least the spirit was there today. We haven't seen even that in weeks...

How Kuyt missed that last chance could haunt us for a year to come.
Seriously Wiz, you cannot be surprised. It's Kuyt ... Scoring goals, even on easy chances, has never been his forte. Hopefully he is about to hit his hot streak ... We really really need him.

Kuyt only scores simple, easy goals.

It's not like he's smashing in 30 yard overhead kicks week after week, is it.

Torrs is expected to be out for 4-6 weeks and Gerrard for 2 weeks.

That someone can think thats for the rest of the season is laughable to say the least.

At least they were up for it today i guess.

I don't think i'm ever going to be able to forgive Kuyt for that miss.

Unfair tho, Rafa hasnt had the funds to compete with Megson.

I've tortured myself watching a few replays of it, and i still think he's going to put it in the back of the net each time.

At least spurs and city look like they are going to drop points i guess.

Can't believe he missed it. Felt sick when he missed it. It could have been the boost we needed.

Damn you Dirk.

Don't be silly.

He's one of stars we needed to tie down with a new contract at the expense of a transfer budget.

How long did he have left Squiggs?

If it's not long i'd still rather we gave him a new contract, rather than him walking for next to nothing.

I'm torn about Kuyt. I like him, I think he is a valuable player for us.
I'd say he is a leader in the dressing room too. But fuck me he can look so bad at football sometimes. His touch is awful for the most part and he isn't really clinical in front of goal.

Why didn't you fucking bury it, Dirk? Why?
I can't stop thinking about it.
Like you Rafa4pm, I don't think I'll ever forgive him for that miss.

That reminded me of Bolton really early on in Rafa's first year; big, strong and aggressive and just hacked the ball forward to see who could get on the end of it.

At least we had the effort but that goal was coming; I was expecting a goal everytime they had a corner in the last 20 minutes. I didn't expect to see Carra get sucked across like a schoolboy following the ball though; our basic errors are killing us.

How Kuyt missed that last chance could haunt us for a year to come.
I agree Wiz.
I think they tried hard and most of them played as well as they can. Mascher might be off the pace a bit which is understandable, Kyriakos, who I thought would be miles off the pace, had a great game.
The problem is a lot of them are such average players, playing as well as they can is not always enough.
Having said that , we deserved all three points today. N'gog is not going to make it.
As for Rafa , well he almost did it under difficult circumstances, but why, oh, why does he have to fiddle around when the team and formation was looking OK. The only sub he should have made was Pacheco for N'gog

regards

Look into my eyes ....look deep into my eyes.....you are feeling sleepy.....very sleepy......now repeat after me....I know you are always right Vlad and I trust you all time..........gooooood boy.
When I click my fingers you will wake up and know that Vlad was right about everything, and agree with everything he says in future (apart from Insua going to be a revelation this year), and not remember our little conversation

I agree with everything you have said apart from bring Pacheco on to play in place of N'gog. Surely that would have been throwing the kid in the deep end. I would have liked Kuyt to go up front and Pacheco to have replaced N'gog but played in the hole.

2 years according the Guardian, topped up by a two year extension. It wasn't a priority, and no doubt came with a hefty signing on fee and the inevitable pay-rise. Dirk did have a decent season prior to that, which has to be taken into context - but given his average first season, atrocious second and a poor start this term, it looks like a misallocation of resources.

Let them wait till they've got one year left and see if anyone more tempting than Liverpool comes in for him. Very unlikely.

Ah in that case mate, then yeah it could of waited.

I'm not sure i'd like to leave it until they've got only a year left though.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

What are you guys babbling about?? That chance was a sitter - Agger would have buried it!! Ok, I'm exaggerating a little but, seriously, once he was in the position it was easier to score than miss. I kid you not!!

We gave Kuyt a contract extension so that we can sell him for lots of dosh in the summer.

*fingers crossed*

Huh? I know. Today's attempt was comical. It was just a general comment about the goals Dirk scores, which normally are bundled into the net. They tend to be important goals, though.

Wiz - re-read what I said. Kuyt's forte is not scoring goals - so I'm not surprised when he misses goals. It doesn't help that he's lacking confidence and has been one of our poorest players the past few months ...

I wouldn't count on that! Agger has missed many open goals recently when he has come up for corners and free kicks.
