Totally different.
Why would it be any different..

The team lacks confidence..

Get your best 11 playing together score goals to build confidence... Any other Liverpool manager would of done that.

To much chopping and changing to build that cohesion and self belief

Play the team into form..

You only pull stunts like that line up tonight when you have the form and results behind you

Thats not a troll!

Can we please stop with the doom-and-gloom here, people? This was a decent game, Sion are actually not a bad side, the lad who scored was a constant pain in the arse and their goalkeeper had a great game. People who think that our reserve team should just crush any mid-level European team are a bit delusional. We dominated, but couldn't find the finish, it happens. Move on to the next game.

Sion have lost their last 5 away games in Europe and conceded 20 goals.
The team cost 3 mill.

We should be beating them no matter what. 1-1 isnt good enough. Great with game time for the young players but we should be winning that. No excuses.

Actually can't believe there are people on here defending that performance. Christ this place is turning into a new RAWK.

One of Rodgers better Post Match..

Harry.. but he has replaced the world class players with shite!!

Harry being honest.. Poor performance.. That exactly what I saw..

Origi and Rossiter the only positives

I thought while Rossiter did well individually, the lack of height and physicality in our CM today gave Sion some breathing room in midfield that they wouldn't have otherwise (if, say, Milner played there instead of Rossiter). Allen usually needs a few games to shake off the rust after his injury layoffs (there have been enough of them over the years to find out the pattern), some passes today were uncharacteristically sloppy, but at other times he did very well (like that pass to Ings (I think?) in the 1st half or the through ball to Origi in the 2nd). After one or two more starts I think Allen will be back to his best.

Ibe looks very short of confidence, but the only way to get out of that is to keep playing him. Not sure many people here would agree with this, but I would actually play him at RWB in the derby instead of Clyne. I still have memories of his MOM performance there last year, he needs to feel the trust and eventually confidence will come.

Origi had his best game for us so far, shame about not being able to find a finish. But I want to see more of him and please stop comparing him to Borini – he has a lot more tools than the Italian, he just needs to play regularly to find his confidence, just like Ibe.

Not the best game from Ings, but he should still start in the derby. Lallana probably MOM, but he should have scored a couple more.

Overall I think Europa league group stage is actually beneficial to us at the moment; we can give young players like Origi, Ibe, Gomez and Rossiter or older players who don't always get in the team like Lallana plenty of regular game time and don't really care about whether we get out of the group or not.

When you're fighting to keep your job, you need wins. A stronger team tonight may have gotten Rodgers some much needed time. Regardless of a Derby at the weekend. Here a fool for not making the connection and going all out for the won.

This result is hardly surprising when you look at Brendan's other performances and results in European football. Just as shite as all the other games. Once you put the merest hint into players minds that some competitions don't matter then you won't get performances out of them.

This sort of shite is inevitable once you put a manager in the position where the game at the weekend decides whether or not he keeps his job

I was on hope street earlier talking on the phone when the whole liverpool squad turned round the corner and walked past me one by one. I was totally surprised and then when they'd walked past I was just like who gives a fuck about that bunch of tits. I didn't even watch the game. Maybe mark is a better fan than me but who cares?

Well, you could also say that he deserves some credit for sticking to the long term plan of giving youngsters and squad players important competitive game time to aid their and the teams development, rather than focusing on saving his own neck.

I'm absolutely certain that some of the posters complaining about him not playing a full strength team would be on here complaining about Rodgers picking them to save his own neck rather than focusing on the derby, if he had.

That's the negative spin - which is perfectly valid.

The positive spin is he's putting what's best for the club ahead of his own future ... which is as valid as the above.
