Maxi made a few glaring errors today, but he was nowhere near as bad as made out in this thread.

He was part of a lot of our good play.

I watched Suarez's turn/change of direction for the first goal again and compared it to the move he pulled against West Ham, and it's amazing - they're virtually opposites of each other.

Today, he guided the ball with his left foot, while changing direction to his right
Last week, it was the right foot doing the ball work while the body movement switched to the left.

That's some amazing talent, footwork and practice there to be able to pull the same trick off with both feet and in both directions with the same ease.

See for yourselves. Look at about the 5:00min mark on the first clip (West Ham) and then the following one from today's game:

Maxi does a lot right, but finishing is not one of them. Despite the stick he gets, I think we are a much better team when he plays. His movement and one-touch passing is consistently excellent, creates space and opportunities offensively and relieves pressure on the defensive end. We missed him against West Ham.

i'm overawed by our performance today. we played like heroes. Not reading thrugh the entire thread but heres my opinion on stuffs.


Maxi: played well. There were times i thought he should be closing down the opposition more but on the whole he was involved a lot in positive play.
skrtel: Not the answer but he played well today.
Kuyt: i'm converted again. i fucking love him. why can't he play like this every week?
Suarez: Technical ability with aplomb. i love him
Carroll: Pleased with his short cameo, you could see what he was trying to do with some of his attempted passing. A serious bright spot
Lucas: Great performance. Showed that he can be a great player if he keeps applying himself
Gerrard. Worst performance for quite some time. Seemed to either not be arsed or not wanting to try. Really unimpressed today. Although it was quite good to see him trying a shot from range.
