Hi guys, gonna be coming up for this game from london, need some advice re accommodation and parking - its only my second trip up to anfield so not too familiar with the city etc -

would appreciate your advice on where to stay - no budget constraints and parking around the stadium - hopefully get a chance to meet some of you in the harry before hand?

Anfield is a run-down suburb and not a good place to look for hotels.

Liverpool has an interesting city centre so if you are planning to have a look round, there are plenty of hotels in town to suit all pockets.

If you are coming purely for the match, my advice would be to find a hotel outside the city centre as it would save the hassle of driving round a city centre with which you are unfamiliar, which is always a bit stressful.

All the car parking in the immediate vicinity of the ground, like the football car park, is pre-booked by people with season tickets or hospitality tickets, so it is best to find somewhere to park a bit further away and walk to the ground which shouldn't be more than about 15-20 minutes.

Thanks for your reply Portly, i have booked the hilton in the city centre at the moment so i guess it would be sensible to park around there and get a cab into anfield?

Last time i came up we stayed in Cheshire, parked at liverpool one and got a bus to anfield - downside is we didnt get to experience the city properly. Having read Avvy's beilliant posts i really do want to check out the city if time permits.

Is it possible to get pre booked taxis from anfield back to the hotel at all?

Your best bet would be to get the bus back to town, unless you want to hang around in the pub for a couple of hours and then get a taxi.

On the rare occasions I have been to Anfield in a cab, I have been able to arrange with the cab driver that he will come and pick me up after the match (full time + 15 minutes). It is necessary to prearrange a pick-up point for this - I favour the Arkles pub at the junction of Arkles Lane and Anfield Road, because taxis can usually get up and down Arkles Lane without hitting match traffic too badly. 🙂

RMA - you should have a beer somewhere for an hour after the match and then taxis are no bothers. Simples. Don't drive to Anfield either. Park at the hotel and get a cab. Best local taxi number is Delta - 0151 924 7373

I'll be in the usual place if you want to join me for a beer.

Thanks for the replies guys - Sunny i take it you will be the big lad in the corner at the Harry? Thats the way you've been described in Avvy's post (which btw his diary should be stickied here - good source of info for people getting to liverpool for the first time)

Thank you all for your advice and the cab number - hope to see some of you next weekend!
