Venue: Anfield

Ok, all the build up in here.

What team do you think we'll see, could see and definitely won't see?

Hoping for Suarez back in the side, even at 60-70% he could be a major asset. I'm hoping for:

Couldn't resist, less than a week left, its ace to be able to start slapping projected teams on the board 'n stuff..

no need to convince me.

Reina

Kelly Carra Agger Aurelio

Lucas
Adam
Aquilani
Kuyt Suarez
Carroll

As if Aquivagina will start.

I don't think Suarez will either. Hendo on the right, kuyt up top with AC. Or Adam in the hole, kuyt wide right and Lucas/Spearing in the middle.

I don't know about formation players etc....

But i know this...

We will bloody murder sunderland and pillage them for every last penny...

Hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is Magic out? Is Ming still injured? Surely Suarez won't start after not playing a single friendly match? I need to know a bit more about the state of our squad before I can start predicting the line-up.

I hope we go 442 though, with Downing on the left.

I think the 11 will be as in Vikas' original post and I like it. Henderson for Kuyt would be the only question for me? Not fussed..we're strong either way.

Injury rules Liverpool's Glen Johnson out of Sunderland fixture

Liverpool have lost another senior player for the start of the new Premier League season after scans revealed Glen Johnson suffered a hamstring strain against Valencia on Saturday.

The England defender pulled up seven minutes into the Anfield friendly and, with Fabio Capello watching from the stands, was not considered for Wednesday's international with Holland at Wembley. A scan on Sunday confirmed Johnson had suffered a hamstring strain and he is expected to be out for up to a fortnight, keeping him out of Saturday's opener at home to Sunderland and possibly the trip to Arsenal next weekend.

Kenny Dalglish will now be without three senior players against Sunderland with Johnson joining Steven Gerrard and Martin Skrtel on the sidelines. Liverpool's captain is currently recovering from an infection related to the groin operation he underwent in March while Skrtel has a calf problem, although the Slovakian defender has stepped up his rehabilitation in recent days.

Would like to see this:

....................... Reina ......................

Flanagan....Carragher....Agger....Aurelio

Henderson....Lucas...Adam....Downing

............Kuyt.........Carroll

2-1 Red Men.

I'd like to see this.

-------------------------------Reina---------------------------

Kelly---------Carra---------------------Agger--------Aurelio

----------------------Lucas----------Aquaman--------------

Kuyt-------------------------Adam--------------------Downing

------------------------------Carroll--------------------------------

We'll miss Glen's pace but Kelly gets a chance. Get him in ye'r fantasy football teams lads.

Fantastic. A new season is upon it. Vikas - had to slightly edit your post. We can get into trouble if we use or advertise any official "branded" terminology or logos (especially EPL) - ridiculous I know but there's tools and organisations out there who would have a go at a small site like ours. Ross will give a full update on this I'm sure but I'm told there's been occasions where such websites as ours have been sued for using unauthorised terminology and logos.

ANYWAY. I'll be in The King Harry if anyone fancies a bevvy . Let us know

My starting XI

.......................................REINA........................................
FLANAGAN.......CARRA.................AGGER..............AURELIO
..................ADAM........................SPEARING......................
MAXI..............................KUYT............................DOWNING
...................................CARROLL........................................

Hopefully

Reina
Kelly Carra Agger Aurelio
Henderson Lucas Adam
Kuyt Carroll Downing

Possibility to change into 442 with Henderson on the right and Kuyt up front too

that will be the team.

I don't see why Suarez would not be considered, he has been involved in a competition for much of the summer, one that has not been over taxing either, and been training, his fitness levels should be OK.
I also think Henderson will start.
I also think you will see Flanno and Kelly both start, with Kelly on the left, Aurellio will not play, he will pick Robinson before him.
Aurellio has hardly kicked a ball has he? It takes him months to get him up to speed as it is.

regards

It's doubtful Ming will play either because he's another who's barely had a preseason, lucky we've got several options. I agree with Vlad, to a degree, I think Luis will be on the bench but will more than likely start against Arsenal.

Sunderland:

----------------Reina------------------
Kelly---Carra------Agger---Aurelio If Aurelio is injured then Flanno or Robinson
-----------Lucas---Adam-------------
-------------Henderson--------------
-Kuyt--------Carroll------Downing-

Maybe Aquilani for Henderson.

No second most dangerous attacking threat? (or first for that matter)

because of the riots? it would have died down by the weekend, if not there is a lovely SONY LCD in the city centre I've had my eye on for some time.

Thats a very good team, and a testament considering we're missing Suarez and Gerrard arguably our best two players. Shows how far we've come since last season!

I like that team more than the one I suggested.

Forgot about Kelly and is Lucas ready?
